Section 6A Outlook- Alexandria lost a tight game to top ranked EGF and will finally play a section game this week. Wadena Deer Creek struggled with lower tier 8A Bagley Fosston before winning and Prairie Centre lost to the 8A Flyers. Willmar knocked off struggling Redwood Valley. Fergus Falls, Northern Lakes, Morris/Benson & Breckenridge/Wahpeton all had their games wiped out this week due to MN weather.

Curious BSU your take on Alexandria this year. 0-5-0 the loss at Northern Lakes is huge blow. They returned a lot of kids from the 4th place team last year. Is it Goaltending? A Chemistry issue? Has NorthStar Academy taking a high end kid here and there from the Alex youth program began to take its toll on the High School Program.

Just curious if you had any insight on what has to be considered a major disappoint so far this winter? I do think they still have good chance to win 6A but I never saw an 0-5-0 start coming...

I haven't had a chance to see them in person, just what I have seen on Facebook Live. Against Northern Lakes, penalties did them in as NL scored a few power play goals on them.

If I had to guess, and like I said, I haven't seen them in person, I would say goaltending right now. And yes, NorthStar pulling a kid or two here and there has hurt. I believe there is one goalie out there that got plucked from the AAHA system and he most likely would have been the starter this year, if not last as well. But I get it, the draw of 50+ games all over the nation, with a focus on hockey during the day is appealing.

Don't know if I will get a chance to see them in person this year as my son's youth hockey schedule always seems to conflict with their home games....

Makes sense and thank you I thought that NorthStar picked a good goalie off the Bantam AA team 2 years ago... ? maybe. Losing the Berg boy to them really hurts also. I did look though and it appears your note on penalties is correct as well as discipline may be an issue its looks like they are averaging 4 penalties a game and with a PK at 70% that issue will need to be resolved.

Section 6A Outlook- Fergus Falls took care of River Lakes at home in their only game of the week. Northern Lakes picked up a huge Section 6A win over Alexandria. Wadena Deer Creek picked up a conference win over Park Rapids, their 4th in a row. Prairie Centre beat Mora/Milaca in non Section 6A action. Willmar got hammered by Marshall. Morris/Benson & Breckenridge/Wahpeton both got beat up against non Section 6A teams.

Agreed again the ranking above is based on as of today (12/25/22) due to being (0-5-0) and getting beat by 6A Northern Lakes who lost to Fergus Falls

I think Alex still has very good odds to win the Section... Right now though they are struggling staying out of the box and keeping the puck out of the back of their net.

I wont be at all surprised to see them turn it around too much Talent in the lineup. However, they are starting to remind me of EGF last year where they may just never get on track.
