Tradition Rich Metro East Conf

Post by East Side Pioneer Guy »

What's up with the standings in the TRME? As far as I know, no team plays two games against all of the other teams. HM plays STA and Mahtomedi twice each, and all other teams just once. But on the whole, it's all over the map. Last season, teams played anywhere from 8 to 11 conference games. Granted, there could have been a postponement involved.

And if hockeyhub is to be believed, each game is worth only 2 points. (You young whipper snappers moment warning) Back in the day, Hill played in the City Conference, and also played an unbalanced schedule. Each of the 3 games agin' STA and Johnson was worth 2 points, each of 2 games vs Harding was worth 3 points, and the single games with Central and Humboldt were worth 6 points. It would be pretty simple to do that in the TRME, with each season series good for 4 points. If hockeyhub is to be believed, last season Tartan had the ability to go 10-1 for 20 points, and win the championship over am 8-1 STA.

This is all hardly worth the bits and bytes expended here. No one really cares about conference championships, and it's always going to be HM, or STA, or Mahtomedi anyway. But it seems like as long as you're going to go to the bother of keeping track of such things, you may as well make a simple change and do it right.

I must concede, it would be a monumental shift for the TRME, which is like the Vatican, in that they both look at centuries the way newer. lesser institutions look at months. Neither the TRME nor the Vatican is known for rash changes in policy, so patience is most assuredly called for.

And I wouldn't mind playing STA and the Zephyrs three times each season. But Hill's schedule is pretty good as it is, so maybe not.

Hockey Hub is not to be believed. It doesn't have the ability to understand that some games are worth 2 points and some are worth 4.

And the fact that a win over STA gives HM a conference title is pretty crazy seeing how mediocre we were this year.

Yeah, it helps that Mahtomedi is not great, and STA only split with them.

Congrats to Hill for winning the AA consolation championship this afternoon. Along with Mahtomedi winning the A championship, not a bad day for the TRME

The Zephyrs have now given me probably my two favorite single A title games. Both insanely dramatic and unexpected.

Hill pushes top seed Minnetonka to the very brink, then beats #5 seed Lakeville South & #2 seed Maple Grove to take home some hardware.

There are, what, 12 total teams in both classes that play 31 games? 2 teams for title game, 2 teams for 3rd place game, and 2 teams in the consolation title game in each class. There are 6 total teams that play 31 games and win their last game. TRME has 1/3 of those

Congrats to Hill & Mahtomedi today =D>

Yep, third place in the brutal Tradition Rich Metro East conference is equivalent to first place in Class A.

The best team in A or AA couldn't get past an 8 loss team from the TRME. But then, these are the same people who told us Gentry would blitz Hill. Uh-huh.

If the Metro East is "Tradition Rich" then what does that make the Lake Conference?

Clearly the no nights off schedule the schools in the TRME pays off come sections and state.

Maybe if the schools in the TRME had 18,000 students like Lake Conference schools do there could be an argument…..

And it should not go unnoted here that the TRME, like
a savy card player winning both halves of the pot in a hand of high-low poker, swept the Herb Brooks award.

Congrats to Jack Erickson, and to Zephyr David Woldsfeld.
