2014 Battle by the Bay AAA Hockey Tournaments

Post by HockeyStorm » Mon Dec 16, 2013 5:20 pm

Northern Storm AAA Hockey would like to invite your teams to come to our Battle by the Bay boys and girls AAA tournamentsnext spring in Duluth MN!

April 11-13, 2014: 3rd annual girls AAA tournament featuring levels 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, and 16u. Discounted registration rate for 8u as they will not play a Friday game.

May 29-June 1, 2014: 5th annual boys AAA tournament featuring 2000-2005 levels as well as u16 boys.

Both tournaments have four game guarantee (some levels may play 5 if enough teams), certified medics at all games, great local lodging deals, and games played at the great hockey venues we have in the Duluth/Superior area. As always, organizations bringing multiple teams receive a discount.

We'd love to have your teams spend the weekend with us in Duluth. We typically have teams from MN, WI, Canada, and last year also had teams from MI and AZ.

I've had 2 sons participate in this tourney in the past. One as recently as last season. The tourney is always well run, I like the rinks and they are all pretty easily accessible, the area is beautiful. Competition wise from my personal experience I would say most levels are sort of in between open and invite level. So sort of an "invite light" or "top end open" lineup at most age levels. So overall a "good" tournament that can be alot of fun. Obviously anomolies can happen though at any given age level I am sure.

Have taken the '03 Girls Machine up there and will again this year. Very well run event. Mudrak and his group do a really nice job of organizing the event and it is cheap (comparitively speaking) at $1200 a team. As was mentioned, Duluth is a great area, 2 quick hours up 35, and the rinks that are used for the event are fantastic. Girls competition was good last year although we found out after the fact that a local organization had ineligible athletes on the roster. Looking forward to the trip in April.

Thanks for the kind words about our tournament. As a non-profit we take great pride in it as it offsets the cost of playing AAA for our local teams.

And we will be playing close attention to and strictly enforcing ages in 2014;
8u: 2005 and younger
10u: 2003 and younger
12u: 2001 and younger
14u: 1999 and younger
16u: 1997 and younger

Very well run tournament. We come from Manitoba and find the whole event well worth the trip. Highly recommend this to any organization who wants to attend a well run tourney.
