Cmon Fred what is up with this??

The article on the Elk River vs STMA game is all wrong. The starting STMA goalie was Todd Scott not the backup B goalie. Scott played 1/2 the game until the Elks went up 4 to 1 and Scott then pulled himself out of the game for some reason.

If you read this article Fred paints the picture that STMA had to use their backup goalie, that was not the case. If you are going to cover these games get the FACTS right otherwise it appears you are making this stuff up as you go along.

The story is pulled for now...we did discuss this about Todd Scott, a parent from ER told me the same thing this weekend, but I had no way to prove it.

I'm sure he will edit it and make sure it is correct before we re-post.

Side note: give the guy a break, he does a ton for the PWA community reporting-wise. This year he covered 70+ teams in PWA....which is amazing.

Doesn't suprise me that Fred's facts are wrong.

I looked at your post history ... careful throwing stones near your glass house.

But yeah some of it wasn't Fred's best work but still enjoyable reading

The guy travels the state reporting on PW hockey. Does he get it right every time? No. But I'll take Fred's insights over your expertise built on six posts all day. Go away.

Todd Scott reinjured a recent groin injury that he was attempting to play through for the state tourney. He tweaked it early in the game and continued to play on it as long as he could. He was not able to play against OMG the next day. He is the only goalie for STMA pwa and thus the backup can only play if he is injured. STMA's pwB goalie came in in relief and did a very nice job. Neither goalie faired well against Elk River as they were all over a very flat STMA team from the drop of the puck. Congrats to Elk River for a nice tourney showing.

Collectively, we knew that the goalie that was called up had played in the game Elk River but didn’t know if he had played the whole game. The only game I missed at Alexandria was the STMA/Elk River game and I had to go by score sheets. Frankly I was surprised by the final score of the Elk River game and felt that STMA was a better team. So I was interested in how STMA would do in Saturday's games against OMG and that is one of the real stories of this year’s tournament. Posts of Saturday's games will be out tomorrow.

I also knew that the regular STMA goalie had hurt himself before the tourney started but couldn’t verify if he had started or not. We knew he had finished the game. I am switching sites this week. So there will be some hiccups.

One of the reasons for switching is that I have some amazing pictures of these kids in action and hope to find a good way to make them available to people who read my stories. For example, I have a number of pictures of the Eden Prairie goalie’s athletic stops against Lakeville South. They pictures are detailed and sharp. I have similar pictures of OMG’s last 0.1 second goal against Prior Lake and pictures of Prior Lake’s winning goal against Elk River with the puck crossing the goal line in the net in mid-air. They capture the feel of the game and can add so much to the stories, but they are large files. But how to work them into the stories and be able to provide them to the viewer has to be worked.

I plan to cover youth hockey with stories through the summer including some AAA game coverage at the 1999/2000 level. The site manager is looking to improve the site this summer and will be making some changes. If you have comments, this would be a good time to make them.
