Will the regional seedings be pleasantly distributed?

Post by Mnhockeys »

Who will be the losers and who will be the winners in regional seedings selection?

The new A/AA formate ALMOST gives every team a spot to play in the regionals, but still a few unlucky ones will be left out.

Will the selection committee from your association fight for your own team, fight for/against the neighbor teams from the same district, fight for/against teams from other districts?

Huh? Our district starts playoffs with nine teams, three go to Regionals. That's almost all?

Bantam a teams advance from districts. If you lose districts your out, period. Bantam AA and Peewee AA they're pre choosing

Its not pre choosing who is going. They are going off your regular season schedule and competition. 24 of the teams will be non-northern districts and 8 will be from the northern districts. Not pre chosen.

That is only for automatic bids...if any of those teams are still in top 24 they will go no matter what.

Hmmm ... should go and ask whoever predicts or/and makes that decision why certain district gets to send almost all their teams, while other like yours only send 3 out of 8. Wasn't regional supposed to be inclusive to all districts and including all the best teams?

Because at the AA level they are supposed to send the best 24 teams regardless of how many come out of a district, except for the automatic qualifier. Bottom line some districts are MUCH stronger than others, and it's not even close. If that means all the teams from one district make it and only one or two from the much weaker districts, then so be it.

D6 is the strongest, but not all teams [Owatonna] should go.

Should be interesting. Burnsville has been ranked in the top 20 almost all year- has quality wins and should get in. Still a mystery on how the process works and don't know who from District 6 will be at the seeding meeting. How do we find out?

It is my understanding that each of the remaining 8 Districts will be represented by 2 of the Bantam and Peewee AA coaches plus a couple District Directors and members of the tournament committee and probably a few others.

Another thing that will be interesting is how they seed teams that are hosting the regional tourney's. For Bantams Wayzata and Prior Lake are each hosting one of the tourney's, will they get ranked/placed in those regions or will that be a non factor.

I know I like home ice!!

B guy,

With respect. Burnsville was also over-rated this year. They should make regions no problem. I don't see more than 1 maybe 2 games.

Good luck.

They have had some good wins an tough losses. They played tough against EP and pPrior Lake recently. Not saying they are a top team but could scare a team in regions. Goalie has played well also.

Normally D6 is the strongest district in Bantam AA in other years, would argue not this year. Even though yhh tries to advocate ep to be the no. 1 team in the state, clearly they are behind ER, Stillwater, Wayzata and GR. Where should Tonka, PL and Edina be fairly ranked this year vs. previous years???

Did D6 get 7 spots to the regionals last year, when they had the top teams in the state in Edina and PL?

Sorry to say "... have had some good wins and tough losses." applies to about just every team, except maybe the bottom 4-5 teams.

Mnhock, do you mean that D6 doesn't have the top team in the state or if it isn't the toughest district. You can argue EP may not be the top team in the state but there is no question D6 is the toughest district in the state. There's not another district close from top to bottom.

D6 has some top teams and still is the toughest district in the state, no argument there. But trying to send all the BAA teams except Owatona to regionals (Owatona played D6 schedule not really a D6 team) this year, does not warrant it. Thought D6 had much stronger teams last year.
