Re: District 15
Other than Moorhead, none of these teams can compete in the TC area. Puckpasser, your Prairie Center team, would be at the bottom of District 6.

Re: District 15
for your information we've played highland out of the TC District and beat them

Re: District 15
pcukpasser,

Highland is one of the low end city associations. Just for the record.

Re: District 15
Next time you try to brag about beating a city team atleast make sure there good. And sorry to say Highland is not good(atleast this year), They are a .500 team in the TC district which is often thought of as the lower of the metro districts.

I would have to say Prairie Centre is one of the best, if not the best B team in the district

Re: District 15
Please keep in mind that you have no "A" team. When comparing to TC or whoever? You will have a advantage happening before the puck drops if your opponent does have a "A" program. You could say they are missing 10 to 15 skaters that moved up.
Looked you up and you are doing well. Do keep up the work. The best thing is to do well in the post season Districts and Regionals.
GOOD LUCK!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... mnhs>Blade Side Down at: 1/26/06 2:23 pm

Re: District 15
I may be wrong, but I remember reading that an association's "B" team that does not have an "A" team is not allowed to advance to the "B" State Tournament. Elliott70 will know.

Re: District 15
All B teams are eligible for the State tournament.
The DD can decide if they will NOT be eligible.
D16 has 3 associations that do NOT* field an A team on a regular basis, but are allowed to compete for advancement. However, they are not the top team in D16 (competitive at B, but not trophy hunting).

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... liott70 at: 1/26/06 5:39 pm

district 15
Wasn't there a rule sometime back that strictly forbid programs from not having an A team simply because a team like Prarie Centre would do this?????? any way, back when I was in youth hockey, all teams for some reason either had only an a team or both an a and b, not just a b team. I was on a pretty decent bantam b team in district 15, and Prarie Centre or Sauk Centre in those days had their A team, and that was it, we smoked them, and did it again the next year when I was on the a team too......same happened against Benson Morris.....has Sauke centre hockey really grown so they can support a decent team, if they have, then they should play in the a leagues if for nothing else than to help them when they play high school........
Also, aren't the teams that come out of district 15 generally competing for a region title???????sometimes against eachother?????? Northern Minnesota must just have bad hockey then if none of those teams can even beat the teams out of district 15.........my thoughts...

Re: district 15
They played "A" hockey last year at Bantams and got smoked, pretty much like we do. But our thinking is that these kids will better off in the long run for having to play everyone elses top players.

Re: district 15
To answer the question Moorhead is pretty much the only association in the district that'll make it to state or make some noise in regionals.

d15
Anything will happen in regions man. Especially if we're talking about bantam B. I remember one region, where Bagley was there, they suck and we all know it, however, their only team was a B team, They competed for the championship game, but missed it and played a tough 3rd place game. None of these teams will even do it??? I question this. The region is what????15,16,IR, and 11 still???? The B teams in these programs can and will be a lot different than the A's.

Re: d15
Sounds like Prairie Centre is getting quite the attention in this forum. I don't think their program is getting any stronger - but they do have this one year where their Bantam B's are very competative. I am from Dist 15 and the feedback I am hearing is that they are indeed stronger than Moorhead Black - and that is coming from teams that have played Moorhead Black and Prairie Centre. So, we will all soon know!!!

d15
and again, why aren't they playing in the A league????
the RiverLakes guy said it earlier, that they feel that their kids will benifit more from playing everone else's top players and look, River Lakes and Fergus Falls into OT.....
Sauk Centre had some good hockey players, they definitely could compete when I played, I just don't think they were deep enough......

Re: d15
The theory that playing tougher competition makes you better in the long run has yet to be proven - what does make an individual player better is what he accomplishes in practice, playing "SAG's" and "shinny". Additionally, how much offensive skills are learned by an individual player who plays higher competition chasing the puck throughout the game - for instance, puck confidence may actually be better achieved when playing lesser competion. Any given players skills are going to grow at the same rate whether they play A or B. It all comes down to what is accomplished in practice and on their own time!!

hockey
So, totally agree with the bantam b player etc.
but, if this Sauk Centre team never plays the A players from the other towns, what the heck are they going to do in High School??????????????????????????? when they finally do play the top players.....they get smoked. IF you've watched the hs playoffs, particularly the section 4a tournement, you'll know that playing tougher teams helps, how many years did Fergus Falls have a winning record going into their section tournement during their run?????? I'm saying two or three years. The walked through those tourney's like they were badminton. Battle hardening does work and is accepted. You need a game here and there that is easy, but never playing up to the competition is what will wreck a program.

bantam a
when sauk centre did play bantam a's for 2 years they competed with fergus falls quite well actually...granted ryan miller was playing on the high school team...those teams had some solid players just not enough depth to beat the top 1 or 2 teams in the section when that couple of age groups got to the high school level
