EP 4 Edina 3 (OT)

Post by quantummekanic »

I wasn't there but it sounds like a whale of a game from last night. Please post comments on the game - and remember kids, be respectful.

edina pretty much controlled the game, particularly in the third period and the OTs. hornets got two goals from line other than sit-walker-sampson.
once it got to 3-on-3 in the OT, EP got a floater free and threw the puck to center ice. the player -- dunno who -- swooped it up and went in alone and scored. it was the second time in the OT that that happened. it's a good play if you can get control of the puck playing 3 on 2.

If you want to talk about a team not playing everyone fairly EP is one of them i mean yesterday in that game it was there first line playing most of the game Ford playing again like he usually does.(third time he has played against Edina this year out of three games). I saw maybe there third line out on the ice 3 shifts the whole game. The second line was out there but not very much especially when Faust got his 14 minutes of penaltys because of checking from behind and then going up and punching a kid from Edina in the face. So then it was the first line playing the whole game except when they got tired then they would get off and go right back on when they werent tired. So if you think other teams dont play there players fair well EP plays there kids just as unfair as any other team would.

How can you tell if they played the lines unfair. EP was short handed the whole game.

There's a whole lotta beechin about "fair" play, but I'd like to hear people's opinions of when (age-wise/level-wise) it is OK to shorten the bench, also when (game situation-wise) it is OK. And try to put aside feelings of having been beat by a team that may have shortened their bench to beat you - if you were writing policy, what would you do?

yeah ic what ur saying but people are saying how only certain teams win because they shorten there bench and in the real world every single team including EP shortens there bench its just what happens when you want to win in a tight game.

Yes, I think you are right - just about EVERYONE shortens their bench in given situations... I think many times, the kids being shorted in those situations are first year players - the EXACT same kids that will be out there in the same situation the following year. Is there anything wrong with that?

EP

AMEN Hockeystud27! Finally someone agrees with me that Ep doesn't play all lines equally. For people who disagree: It's like saying that Gabby doesn't get more shifts then Boogaard in any given day. I'm not saying Ep has big, slow kids or that the Ep 1st line plays an incredilbe amount more but just refering to ice time. All 3 lines are good and that's why I don't understand why the ice time isn't even. If you still disagree wait until EP gets to regions then state, that's when ice time will really decrease for some kids. Even worse is that Beaton has probably seen his last amount of game time for the year.

Don't forget this is a thread about Ep peewee A, not shortening up the bench.

MNhockey, what do you have against EP. Beaton plays the same as Ford, I think they have played 42 game so far this year, with Ford play 22 and Beaton 20. I would put money down that Beaton plays tomorrow in the District Final. We get it MNhockey, you don't like EP.

I predict Beaton doesn't play for the rest of the year... Mark my words. I SEVERLY doubt that Beaton has played 20 games. Anyone close to the team have a number count on the games played??? Personally I love EP. I don't like how they are coached. Maybe I'm not close enough to the team to know how it goes down though.

no chance Beaton plays, hasn't been close all season. almost as bad as the Chaska PW A team, their 2nd goalie NEVER plays

ep pwee A

I am starting to believe all of u about the playing time. EP has basically killed most of the teams they have played all year, and back then, when I would see them, they would play the lines equal. The other night against Edina, they squeeked out a win. The coach for EP doesn't understand that he doesn't have the best 5 hockey players in the state. He has the best group of 15 skaters in the state ...."depth"..... Almost every team in the state has one great line maybe two. No team has three. That 1st line of EP could not even move after the game. I didn't think the kid who scored the game winner would even get to the other end and get the shot off. Time will tell.

I just couldnt help myself. This sounds like a whiny parent talking about playing time. This is playoff time and you should be ready for line matching, shorter shifts, and 1 goalie all the things that happen this time of year. you cant have it both ways play everyone the same and win state titles which do prefer and if it is play the same B1 level. Remember it is your child's experience not yours. Ep has great coaches that have done great things over the years what makes you so unique because Johnny's not the guy.

I don't care what Eden Prairie does. Check out one of my previous threads that I wrote saying EP is the only team that plays equal. After watching the Edina game the other night, I feel it is necessary to change my review. Once again it is just one review after watching one game.

see people you have a choice. the coaches should lay this out firmly when the season starts how he expects to play his players. And you as a family should decide if that will work for your needs. If you accept the coaches proposal zip it and support your child in good and bad situations. Play b1 or b2 or c that is the recreation level as defined by Minn Hockey.
