Peewee State Predictions

Post by Hockeystud27 » Sun Feb 19, 2006 12:23 am

As it gets closer and closer to the end of the season. Who do you think will take it home this year. Or who will be in the tourney.

18 State Championships between the three of them is awesome! I don't think any of them played for the gopher's. Billy Lund played at St. Cloud State. Good luck Roseau, it would be nice to see a small town win it all--no class A or AA--this is the way it should be.

Duluth Lakers will not make it out of that region, the teams who will go to state from the gold regions (Peewee A) are Roseau, Grand Rapids, and Duluth East, in no particular order.
- Be Nocturnal -

Hey Jag,
I don't know about that. Grand Rapids has been upset by a number of teams this year.
Grand Rapids:

Crookston 2-1 L
Moorhead 4-3 L
*Duluth Lakers 2-0 L
Bemidji 2-1 L
Lakeville 4-1 L
Duluth East 1-0 L
Hibbing 3-2 L
*Duluth Lakers 3-2 L

I think Duluth Lakers will come out on top of Grand Rapids.

Between the three coaches for Roseau they have had 18 championship in their youth through high school careers. There are some pretty good coaches and I know for the fact that the team is pumped and ready to take on anybody.

18 state championships between the three coaches? I doubt it. Do the math, they would've all had to won 2 in PeeWee's, 2 in Bantams, and 2 in high school. I don't think so.

Maybe they included Dick Johnson's championships too, then it might be possible.

No, they could have won some in youth years and won some as coaches, so yes it is very possible.
- The JaG -

I know they won h.s. in 90' with Blias. Bill Lund was one heck of a player and is helping with this pee wee group thats having a great year. Anybody know their record? Is Dick still an assistant coach?

"Omdahl from roseau would play with that kid like a barbi dol"

Well let's see here. The last time Omdahl faced Bjugstad (Northern Wings or Northern Blades vs MN Blades) Omdahl's entire team managed a total of 2 goals in 4 games, while Bjugstad racked up over 10 points in those games. Of course very different circumstances than a State PW A tourney.

Both are solid players. Omdahl is big, fast, tough and can finish. Bjugstad is in a league of his own when it comes to overall talent and playmaking for a PW. However, NEITHER can win a game by themselves against top competition. There are several PW teams in the TC area that can shut down ANY all-star player. The top ranked teams have been there all season because they are the teams with the most depth at all positions.

Roseau could very well win a game or two at State, but their lack of depth, especially at D and G will probably catch up with them. Blaine will have a tough time making the state playoffs considering that they will most likely need to win at least two games against top 5 teams no matter which sub region they end up in.

By the way, the Blaine coaching staff includes a two time all-american, and two former HS State champs, one that was also a gopher. That adds up to absolutely nothing since they aren't the ones on the ice.

the Roseau Peewee A's record is 35-1-1

The loss was to stillwater at the moorhead tournament they went into overtime then to two shootouts. Somebody said it was a loss but then it was looked into and the usa hockey said that anything after overtime is considered as a tie when it goes into a shootout. Yes Dick is considered a assistant coach but does not go in the box.

Roseau

Post by Hockeyman10 » Thu Feb 23, 2006 5:16 pm

I think this team will make it to state but I don't think they will get far. We played against them and their goaltending needed a ton of help, but that as at the beginning of the year so I don't know what they are like now. Roseau has some big guys but I don't think that will get them trough state.

I beg to differ hockeyman. I think That Roseau could be the team that knocks off Edina or Eden Prarie in the Championship. The Goaltending is not that bad, but there is definatly room for improvement. That team is led by #5 Ohmdahl. That kid is AmAzInG! He runs over anything in his path, and Roseau can put the puck in the net. I picked them to go to state and possibly win it at teh beginning of the year, and that has yet to change.

Roseau has very good defense and is also on their toes. They are always ready to play any team. have you ever watched Roseau play hockey? Just because they are coming from a small town doesn't mean they aren't good enough to stand up to the TC teams. Just because you guys have tons of kids to choose from doesn't mean a thing. The kids turn into better kids when they have to work for it then picking the kids that think they are good hockey players. A team should be made up of kids that want to win not depending how good you are and if you are the super star. So don't be putting Roseau down until the fat lady SINGS. Because they are out for a good fight for State Title and all the kids want it.
