Yes, I know, this is a self serving thread.
If you don't like it or don't have anything with info to any of the following PLEASE DO NOT REPLY. Then this thread will move on to the back pages and nobody will see it again.

Southwest/SLP Peewee A team is in this tourney. Every other team is from Canada. Just curious if anybody knows anything about any of the following 12AA Divison teams.

Norwest Stars
Red Lake
Elks 82's
Current River Comets
Westfort Rangers
Fort Frances
Red Rock
KC Sabers
Neebing Hawks

If Fort Frances has a similar PW program as a couple of years ago, they will be comparable to a very good Minnesota A team. We played them up in Cloquet and they were 56 and 1 when we played them. They had won every tourney they had entered and I believe thay won that tourney also

Thanks Guys!!!

The players really had a lot of fun. It was interesting to see them play with/against teams that play a different style of hockey. The games were very physical, but also very clean (with the exception of one game). The officials did a great job keeping the games under control, but at the same time let the players play the game and determine the out come on their own. Us, as coaches, recieved MANY compliments as to the style and level of hockey the players played. I really think all of those compliments could also be passed on to many of the teams we played throughout the course of this past season.

There were a few rule differences in these games, the biggest change for the players was the addition of "Touch-Up" Off Sides. The players learned it very quickly and it sure helped the flow of the game. The other rule changes we slight and mainly in the consequences for penalties. "Head Contact" is a 2 & 10. Checking from Behind is 2 & a Game (if in last 10 mins of game it also includes the next game - but I only saw it called twice in all the games I watched).

This tournament had 5 different divisions playing at the same time. PWA, 11AA, 12AA, BA, BAA. The AAA Thunderbay Peewee Kings played in the Bantam A level and were playing in the Championship Game. They had 3 players over 6 ft tall and were a high quality team. The only other team I saw in all these Divisions from out side of Canada was Superior, WI who had teams at the BA and BAA levels.

I would highly recommend taking a chance on tournaments such as this. It really is quite an expierience for the players, parents and coaches alike. Next season we are actually looking into a 64 team tournament in Sweden.

How does an association with not enough kids so they join another organization and a of a sudden they have enough money to go to Sweden. (SW/SLP) When just SW they almost had to fold.

The association does NOT cover the charges for tournaments like this. They did not cover any of the charges for the Thunder Bay Tournament either. These costs are incurred by the members of the team that attend.

I'm not saying a team WILL BE GOING to Sweden. But as of now, it is something that is being LOOKED INTO. At this point I would say it is a little less than a 50-50 chance at going. I, personally, would love to see it happen though. Only time will tell.

People like "hawkfan" ruin great threads in this forum.

I don't even know SLPCoach personally but from his posts I would say that he must be very much a "players coach".

To rip on him in this forum is so OUT OF PLACE!

I'm going to stand up for Hawkfan here. He, from what I have seen, is a good poster on these boards.
Thanks HockeyDad9 for standing up for me. I appreciate it.

But, I think Hawkfan was refering to the people posting bad things - not saying that I, as a coach, would be "Super Gone."

Good. I hope so.

It upsets me to see posts in here that are not positive.

Too much good stuff in the hockey world to be ripping our own.

Please take no offense - hawkfan. Maybe I should have addressed my comments to the entire board rather calling out one individual. Please accept my apologies.
