Talmage to St. Cloud

Talmadge was picked to go to St. Cloud. I got an email from a friend who saw the letter.

I just think this is wrong, he just moved here. My son has been playing in Mn since he started hockey and he has played every summer with or against most of the boys going to ST Cloud. I think this is wrong that this kid can move into Minnesota to advance his hockey development and take a spot from a kid who was born in Mn.

Just thought I would put a spin on the Private school, open enrollment vs home grown issue. So you picked him to get to ST Cloud. What is your track record? How many have you scouted that made it to the show? How many that you thought would, didn't get past high school?

This is just for crediability, everyone gets lucky once in a while.

I didn't pick him...I have nothing to do with the selections. I'm going to draft him in the futures draft though. And.....my track record is pretty good. I've sent a few to the big show and have some others who will be there soon.

It's really nothing to get worked up about. This kid is 10 yrs. worth of development away from the show. I just see a lot of potential.

On top of that....if it makes you feel better...the role he will play will probably never get his salary above the league minimum...if he even makes it and that's a BIG if.

I am far from worked up, as you can see in the previous post I am pretty light hearted. I just wanted to know how much I should respect your opinion on player talent. You have a lot of insite on the topic and this kid has caught your eye. It's nice to hear what you guys (scouts) look at and what you look for. Thanks for finally posting your opinion.

Does anyone besides gopherdad see anything any different about this kid than anyone else?

i dont have an issue with him just moving here. that shouldnt matter. for those people who think he is cheap or a goon as some might say you might be right but everyteam needs a tough guy/grinder. right now i think he is in toronto with the blades. im sure he is doing good up there against the tough physical canadian teams. that is where he will standout as a good player. but remember i havnt seen him play yet just my opinion from wut ive heard.

I am the souperstar.

This kid moved to MN with his family, good for him. Glad to see a kid from Dist. 4 making it. Good luck.
