Johnson will take it this year with possibly Highland applying some pressure depending upon who they loose to high school.

Does anyone know who will be coaching the Johnson A Bantams this year?

Who cares? This district is a joke.

The district is called District One. Not TC.

District 1 or District TC, it doesn't matter.

This district gets automatic bids to regional tournaments, when there are other teams throughout the metro region and state that are more deserving.

When is the last time a D1 team won a regional tournament game at the A level for Peewees or Bantams?

blueblood, as you said, it does not matter. It does not matter how long ago a District 1 team won a regional game or even went to state, which has happened also. Why don't you tell us who some of these more deserving teams are?

I bet some of them would go and not win a game either. I was out at Blaine watching the NAHL games recently, and there were 3 players from District 1 rostered and playing, there are some in the USHL as well as D1 teams. There may not have been many real great district 1 teams going to regional play, but there have been some very talented players pass through.

Would blueblood like to tell everyone where you think more deserving children are?

There was a time before people flocked out to the suburbs when the inter-city teams dominated all the power teams, It was not uncommon for a city team to rout say White Bear or Eden Prairie or even Edina by big scores and no one in the city said lets take there spots away. Remember when Rochester was so bad? Things change and it looks like I may not be the only Duffus Blueballs.

i think no matter where u play they should divide the whole state up north and south together and seed the teams. so that means if edina is the best team in the state, they would get the number 1 overall seed. and they would play the worst team that is good enough for the playoffs at braemar. and so on and so forth.

Johnson will win both regular and playoffs even though they let their best player go up to the high school. (Cory Ellis)

duffus, I agree with you on Johnson bantam A's. Cory Ellis made it up to St. Cloud with the Advanced 15 group this summer. I was wondering what would happen with him this year, sounds like you already know he will move up to the high school this season. This will be a big loss to that team, but he is a hard working player and will do just fine moving up.

I still wonder who is coaching the Johnson A bantam team, do you know?

I don't know if Cory Ellis has made his final decision yet but the new "A" Bantam coach at Johnson is Jeff St. Martin with Tim Cromwell from Hamline as his assistant coach.

Johnsonpres, thanks for the info. Could be a tough decision for Ellis, but I am sure between Jeff and Moose they will help him with his decision. A possible year of dominating at the Bantam A level would not hurt him at all and would also help his confidence entering the high school level the following year.

I know Jeff well from his days with the Westside program, and think he is a quality coach who had great sucess with the St. Paul Lakers and a national championship. Sound like a great staff put together. Best of luck to them and the players.

I wish Cory would stay at bantams, The team should be competitive but fairly young. It is nice to have genuine comments made on this board rather than all negative things. Thanks Blueliner

I think the Highland team will be very good this year. Coaching doesn't win games, Johnson will be third or fourth

I don't like Highland as the top seed, but they'll be near the top. I see Como winning it. They dominate this level. Oh wait, would this be the group that only played B hockey coming up?

From what I read about district 1 it sounds like the patients are running the nut house. Como has problems not playing "A" and at your Pee Wee's you have SW/SLP playing in 1 and a half leagues, Who is in charge of that district is it the SWP/SW Coach that always posts on here it seams that the other organizations have a legitimate beef. Hey Elliott we don't let things like that happen around up hear do we? Didn't SLP/SW combine in Pee Wee's last year? Than why are they playing in both districts this year.

If it WERE up to me, our team would not be forced into playing schedules in 2 districts.
By this occuring it give almost NO leway into scheduling scrimmages against teams of our own choosing. I think you should consider both sides of the equation prior to making judgements.
If you truely have a problem with something, that in all reality does not even remotely concern you, maybe you should call your district rep or go to a Minnesota Hockey Meeting and get the answer straight from the horses mouth.

SLP coach- Who forced you to play in 2 districts?

That was the agreement between Minnesota Hockey, District 1, District 3, and Both Associations (SLP & SW). This all occured when the associations proposed the "merger." I have no idea who actually first came up with the idea to play games Vs teams in both D3 and D1. I was not present during those meetings. I only coach. I do not participate in any board level discussions.

I appluade that for you getting what you can.

I was involved in the pulling together of the agreements to play D1 and D3. I have posted on another thread the reasons why so won't go into it here.

To make clear, we were not forced to play two district schedules. However, with Park D3 and SW D1, it made sense to do what MN Hockey, the two associations, and two districts felt was a Win-Win-Win for all participants involved. Our teams were 'forced' last year when we showed up at game scheduling to play each D1 team four times in the regular season which really screwed up our scheduling for our BA and PWAs. This year those things have been worked out and should be a rewarding experience for our players.

Most potshots that I have received have been from outsiders who wished they would have come up with something creative to improve their program for their kids. It works, and I have explained why/how we got there on another thread.

Hockey has definitely changed. Be creative in working through it. Like it or not, you are now 'selling a product' to your members who have options to go elsewhere if it is not a good product. I long for the old days of hanging out at the warming shack drinking 10 cent SuperAmerica SuperPop while watching Peter Puck on a B/W TV in between games of shinny...but those days are gone. SWPrez

One qustion I have is you stated that the four rounds affected your scheduling in the leauges but being that our teams here at johnson only have one league you could see why we wanted more league games. The year before last we had 8 league games, this year I hear we will only play each other twice, Well I hear COMO may change there minds and go"B" again the New Richmond team fell through that does not leave many league games for the two St. Paul teams Richfield,Irondale and Washburn. You look at other districts they play alot more. I also heard that Edison combined with Tri-city so do they play the two league system?
