grand rapids and bemidji bantam a

I have been to Grand Rapids for hockey games from pee-wees to high school, both as a coach and fan.
And, as in anywhere, I have seen bad refs (in terms of bad positioning, knowledge of the rules, knowledge of the game, and in being fair).
I have watched, participated in, been in charge of, lots of refs in Bemidji.
I have seen the same thing.
Interesting that GR would call the reffing bad in the earlier game this year as one ref was from Grand Rapids. The other was not from Bemidji. College students.... no affiliation with Bemidji Youth Hockey... just trying to make a $ and trying to stay part of a game they enjoy.
Of all the communities in the northland, the odds of being homered are less in Bemidji than most any other community (Duluth and other areas that have winter residence - students also get fair reffing for that same reason).
So blaming the refs does not cut it. Not in Bemidji, not Warroad, not Virginia, not Brainerd...
I can remember watching my first hockey game (an Allen Cup game when I was about 4). And in the time from that age to my current old age, I have seen many hockey games of all sorts.
Not once have I seen a ref score a goal or make a save.
Suck it up boys and just play the game and leave the coaching, the reffing, the cheering to other people.
