It'll be interesting to see how the recruiting class for next fall will sort itself out. I know the D situation isn't entirely set in stone yet. Perfect world situation would be both Sadek and Zuhlsdorf would play in the USHL next year but that might not be in the cards given the needs for next year mixed in with what is already in the pipeline for D in the next few seasons. (Zuhlsdorf would have to accelerate and it sounds like that is a legit option).

There could be a surprise or two yet in recruiting for next fall. Heard there is at least one very talented player we are pursuing that doesn't come from the conventional recruiting grounds of the Gophers. Not sure if it will pan out but something to watch for.

The Schierhorn kid (goalie from Alaska) was a big (and underrated) pickup for the club. Experienced, older, and getting high quality results for Muskegon.

So if they have the choice, who would they push to come in first? Zuhlsdorf or Sadek?

Good question... I don't know Zuhlsdorf's academic situation and that is part of the equation.

I've heard they may have already told Sadek he's coming in but I haven't followed up on that talk either.

Hammy-

What is the story with the Hults kid de-committing and committing to LSSU 6 weeks after his commitment from the U?

Sounds like it was a combo of being concerned about how much playing time he would get at the U mixed in with financial considerations. No doubt he'll be more of a key player at LSSU than he ever would be at the U.

It also didn't hurt that LSSU was offering a package deal for him and his younger brother.

To bad. I was looking forward to the gophs bringing in a couple of older (94) players in Hults and Romanko.

Makes sense. Thanks

I'm not really sure what your idea of "breaking news" is. That could be a number of different possibilities.

Oh but there was. Sometime in April probably :)

For a guy with the name "gopher blog" I would think you would know more.

Your idea of breaking news is 3+ months old stuff? LOL

You do realize there could be any number of possibilities that you could be alluding to, right? You can't expect people to automatically know what you might be alluding to (if there is any legitimacy to you in the first place).

The reality is it is a stretch to assume you know anything that isn't already common knowledge... especially considering you were challenged to prove this knowledge via your "breaking news" big talk in your previous post and all you've done is duck the challenge.

You're not worth taking seriously.

I can guarantee you this isn't common knowledge as it never went public. Also keep in mind I knew two players were returning to the team last year months before you were willing to announce it.

Oh please tiger, open up your TMZ gossip to the rest of us who aren't worthy of your trash.

Bottom line is Hammy is more closely connected to gopher hockey than anyone you know. I am close personal friends with several dad's of gopher hockey players and he almost always knows insider info before they do.

In the meantime, let's get you a prize for "knowing 2 players were returning months before hammy was willing to announce it"

Who cares?!

Well, I know various things that aren't public knowledge right now too. Whether any of it is the same thing you are trying to puff your chest out about I don't know. If I don't talk about something, it is usually because I was told something in confidence and I try to respect that individual's trust. Maybe that is the same spot you are in... which is fine. But then don't act like you know something others don't when you have no intent on proving it.

I don't claim to know every single solitary thing that goes on. After all, I don't work in the hockey office to hear/see it all (usually know the major stuff but not every little minor nugget). I think most dedicated Gopher followers that use message boards and social media know I have had a pretty strong track record for accurate information during the Lucia era. I'm fine with that. I don't need a pat on the back from you to feel OK.
Also keep in mind I knew two players were returning to the team last year months before you were willing to announce it.
Anybody that follows a college team closely can make relatively accurate guesses about top players leaving/returning after a season since most of them are not terribly challenging to figure out. You really didn't prove much other than that. All I ever said is they didn't officially tell the staff of their intentions at that time (which was true). For instance, Rau didn't do that until Florida's camp hit when he had a chance to talk to their front office about everything. I always felt he'd return even before he told them he was going to... but I don't think that makes me special to end up correct.

I'd be far more impressed if you came out with some unexpected info about a 4th line guy leaving the team for lack of playing time because those situations are far more unpredictable.

Justin Kloos named gopher captain for the coming season. Congrats to him! Great player, well deserved.
