Big 10 with 3 teams to Frozen Four in St. Paul

UMD vs Ohio State
Notre Dame vs. Michigan

What's the over/under on Buccigross and Melrose making a reference to the "Football Schools (OSU, ND, and MICH)" taking over college hockey?

Maybe Lucia was right, the Big 10 has good hockey teams

Remember when people on here thought the Big 10 conference is a joke. Told people schools like Ohio St and Penn St would be big players in college hockey. They are only going to get better!!!

Shocker......the teams that spend the most money are the best......and have the best odds.

The Big 10 conference was a joke, but knowing the money the Big Ten was putting into hockey only an idiot would deny success would follow. That said Michigan is a traditional power and Notre Dame is only in the Big Ten in hockey. Really neither are a surprise.

If the SEC decided to fund hockey Alabama would be a power in a few years as well. The athletic budgets are a huge factor in this and due to that the Big Ten dwarfs the other conferences no one should be suprised. Money talks, the Missouri Valley has a basketball team in the final four again, yet the ACC had nine teams out of 68 with zero left and the Valley had one team out of 68. Money puts the ACC in the tournamenti sufficient numbers to grab sweet 16 spots, which they do. The Big Ten does the same in hockey.

The same reason dictates why yhe Big Ten dominates NCAA wrestling.

Goldy, B1G was pretty weak the past few years. Adding Notre Dame when they are strong really helps because they were at the top, but Michigan has improved a little and Ohio State a ton.

Year to year there are still waves and Wisconsin has been in a lull. They'll get better and return to where they usually stand relative to the rest of the 60 Div I teams.

Your spending rationale can't be 100% true when the past couple years the B1G sucked and NCHC ruled. It's a good playoff run for Big Ten schools, in addition to the league being improved. Single elim anything can happen. Air Force made the past two final eights.
Be kind. Rewind.

Spending is everything but it takes time. Ohio States budget for hockey increased by over 100% once the Big Ten formed and they left the CCHA. Spending money takes time and increasing scholarships takes time. Penn has zero hockey scholarships while the Big Ten guarantees 18 if not more.....27 is the limit and only the Big Ten goes that high.

Again, I still don't understand the hate for the Big Ten Hockey Conference. 4 NCAA berths with 3 teams making it to the Frozen Four. It's the best conference this year and poised to be the best conference going forward. Over half the teams in the BTHC were once in the WCHA. So what exactly is the problem? The Gophers just need to start winning, winning conference tournaments, winning the NCAAs, and for the atmosphere at Mariucci to be fun again.

The way I see it, the only problem is it might be too hard as somebody has to be in first place and somebody has to be in last place. Given the programs in the conference, last place is not going to be acceptable to any of them. The best thing that could happen is college hockey expansion with Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and/or Rutgers starting up programs. That would provide more diversity to the conference.
