Is it too early to start ripping on it??
The only soft spot I see is the one between my legs
Its never too early to rip this team for their roster, or actually what it always lacks.
How are they going to score runs? They have to score more runs now than before. Sanatana would go out there 35 times and give up 3.
How are they going to make that up?
Get some guys in here who can hit the ball.
Make that hit the boofin ball.

Re: Meet your 2008 Twins!
I not going to rip these guys yet, if you look at the roster real close, they did pick up some key players at all positionsNeutron 14 wrote: 40-Man Roster

Key Players
Will those "key players" contribute on the field,......or will they just whine and fuss all year?
IS is right but they are still in the negative in both pitching and offense.
They struggled offensively last year with Hunter and we were begging them to pick somebody up. Even if Young breaks out and has Hunter numbers, still need more O.
The pitching loss is obvious unless Liriano turns into Santana....not likely.

I agree with that, but it looks like you should have started your offseason workouts a little sooner...Neutron 14 wrote:Oh I can bring it all right, just ask these fine posters about that!eagle4life9 wrote:Ive heard Nuetron can bring it at like 110-115mph. With that 6-9 270lbs frame I hope he can at least hit three-digits.

Player: Neutron
Contract Status: 1 year
Salary: league minimum
Acquired: Feb 9, 2008
Profile:
Neutron's loose demeaner and triple digit fastball make him the heir apparent to Joe Nathan once the Twins complete their firesale.
What the Scouts say:
"Heat, staight heat, I still owe him one for putting the Nair in the visiting clubhouse shampoo dispensers."
----------------------------------------------------------
Player: packerboy
Contract Status: 1 year
Salary: League Minimum
Acquired: Feb 9, 2008
Profile:
This once five tool player now has limited defensive range, shoulder problems, and can not run. His ability to hit the Boofin ball has earned him one final contract. The Twins expect him to fill the role of clubhouse lawyer/front office liason now that Johan Santana has been dealt to NY.
What the Scouts say:
"He's on fumes"
--------------------------------------------------------
Player: Govs
Contract Status: league minimum
Salary: League minimum
Acquired: Feb 9 2008
Profile:
At 5-7, 123 lbs. he's extremely undersized for his position. His fluency in Spanish makes him a valuable translator to the Latino dominant pitching staffs now common in MLB.
What the Scouts say:
"He'll keep Denys Reyes and Boof Bonser in the best shape of their playing careers."
-----------------------------------------------------
Player: E.R. Empire
Contract Status: Non roster invitee
Salary: none yet
Acquired: Feb 9 2009
Profile:
This slick fielding middle infielder could be the steal of the off-season.
What the Scouts Say:
"He's been known to be real tough on rookies who don't catch on"

I hate to be a "GMtana", but I think this team is lacking a clubhouse leader and a good "character guy".Can't Never Tried wrote:How about DH got one of them yet???Govs93 wrote:Well, you already copped to the fact that you don't have the "baseball gene". Based on the pool of washed up never-weres provided by IS, I guess you could be the GM or something.
IS, I'd opt for Barry Bonds over CNT. He's still available.

Here's a rough draft of the opening day lineup! In my eyes.
starting lineup:
1. Harris 2B
2. Mauer C
3. Young RF
4. Morneau 1B
5. Cuddyer CF
6. Lamb 3B
7. Monroe DH
8. Kubel LF
9. Everett SS
Bench:
Redmond C
Casilla 2B
Punto 2B/3B/SS/.190 avg
Buscher/Tolbert/Jones/Pridie/flavor of the week
starting pitchers:
1. Liriano
2. Baker
3. Slowey
4. Bonser
5. Perkins
bullpen:
Long relief - Guerrier, Blackburn
Middle relief - Rincon, Reyes, Crain
Set-up - Neshak
Closer - Nathan
Looks like another .500 season. Not bad but not good enough to beat anybody good in september.

Gotta read up - it's just about that time of year!MNHockey75 wrote:Is he dead? I haven't heard anything about him in like 16 months.
He's ready to go, been throwing all of his pitches for a couple of months, but Baker is going to be the #1, and they're still not going to push Liriano too hard to start the year.
