Favorite User Names on Hockey Forum

Post by Goldfishdude » Wed Dec 23, 2009 3:54 am

Let's see if we can get some action on this Cafe board....

In going thru a multi-tude of threads and different topics, I have to chuckle at some of the user names we have.....

Let's start listing some of them:

Paulshmyr - of all the former NHLers, why this name?? Cracks me up!!

Reg(gie) Dunlop - the legendary player coach from the classic movie Slapshot.

Youngblood - from the Rob Lowe character from the movie Title..

sinbin006 : with the legendary Penalty Box smiley as his signature.

I have always been fond of the rocker names; Syd Barrett, Angus Young, etc. but to the best of my knowledge there's never been a Jim Morrison, Jerry Garcia or Jimmy Hendrix.

I Like karl(east) but wonder why because there is no karl(south), karl(north) or even just karl that I'm aware of. I am old enough to remember Carlton the Doorman though, a classic bit of tv.

Some other random ones that have amused me due to some austere reference or something I had to look up: Solanum Tuberosum (Latin for potato), MoreCowBell (classic SNL bit), and Lloyd Braun (a Seinfeld character). Irishmans shanty (a folk tune most would recognize), Inigo Montoya (Mandy Paitkins character in Princess Bride). I'm sure there are others but I just don't remember them.

Possibly my favorites were the Bader references that went on for a time; BIAFP, Bader is God, Badersucks, etc. etc. I don't even remeber who Bader is or was, just the barrage of Bader names was pretty amusing. I assume they were all done by the same person who really enjoyed arguing with himself as are/were many posters for a time.

Bigger? Nope. Better? Hardly. At least the "bigger and better thing" can't be accused of using much bandwidth. Bandwaste, more like.

I would rant about this but I kinda like nit-picking your rankings, Karl :D

All of those guys over yonder are actually good people. It's sad that some people's ego's get in the way.
