Gopher football

Post by goldy313 » Sat Nov 16, 2019 11:52 pm

90% of the high schools run a better hurry up offense than the Gophers. Paying this fraud because he lucked out due to horrid officiating over an overrated Penn St team? Doomed to another decade of failure! At tax payer expense no less!

Maybe fraud was the wrong word. Hopefully he learns and grows from the loss. Ferentz out coached him, no shame in that. The Gophers were lucky to have the record they did, they could have just as easily lost 4 games they won and be struggling to be bowl eligible.

That said watching LSU come off an emotional game (Alabama) to travel to a rival (Mississippi) and still play at an elite level shows the Gophers still have a long way to go.

We still have a chance to go to Pasadena, at this point I would take this over LSU beating us by 50 in a playoff.

The Rodent defense is awful against the pass.....Wisconsin can’t throw. Ohio State May put up 45, the question will be can Tanner Morgan and his corps of NFL receivers put up 46 or more.

The Gophers made four bad QB’s in a row look like Joe Montana.

I hope they are on the right path but could just as easily be 7-5.

P.J. was out coached badly in his two rivalry games with everything to gain. His back seven on defense made 4 mediocre to poor QB’s look like Joe Montana/Dan Marino. Cripes Nebraska had Nate Staley at 4-21......us, he carved us up like Marino.

The Gophers gave up a touchdown where they had two left cornerbacks and no right cornerbacks. The right side of the field was the Gopher sideline.

This is 6th grade football level stuff here.

But the entire defense Rah Rah’s a 3rd down stop down by 28 with less than 3 minutes left in the game.

Fox made the Iowa@Minnesota their game of the week. To compete against the SEC on CBS…. The over/under on the Iowa/Minnesota game is 32. 32!

FWIW Iowa beat Wisconsin with about 150 yards in total offense. The second time in Power 5 conference history a team has won with less than 150 yards in total offense since 2004! The only other time? Iowa beating SDS.

Up 31-10 in the 4th quarter and lose to a bad Northwestern squad. Good thing the highest paid employee of Minnesota is PJ Fleck.

I don't expect great things from Gopher football, but this was bad, really bad.

I am not a PJ fan.

I will be there next Saturday night. I, as a degenerate gambler, am thinking this is a great situation for the Gophers. At home, on National TV, PJ needs to justify his pay……Michigan isn’t worth their ranking. Either the Gophers get beat by 20 or they win.

Embarrassing!

I was at the Metrodome when Nebraska put up something like 84 on the Gophers. Harbaugh could have put up more but waved the white flag with 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

With the money Minnesota gets from NBC, Fox, Disney….etc. go find a coach…..maybe the guy at Oregon St.

Degenerate gambler take…..

The North Carolina QB Maye or the Washington QB Pennix will win the Heisman! USC Williams isn’t a top 5 QB.

A friend of mine writes for Saturday’s Down South….a site covering SEC football mostly but college football in general. He has a Heisman vote and said……he now has Tory Taylor, the Iowa punter at #5 on his ballot. He posts his ballot every week after week 2. After this week…. Washington QB Penix is #1, NC QB Maye is #2, FSU QB Travis is #3, USC QB Williams dropped to #4. Air Force QB was hurt, so was Georgia TE Bowers. So a punter is now #5

Iowa is terrible….until their final drive they had -8 yards of offense in the second half.

As a MSHSL and NCAA official that was the “right” call but a judgement by the back judge. He didn’t deem it a logical fair catch and didn’t throw a flag or blow the play dead. What next? Do we go back and check for holding after every play?

Among the 5 Major Conferences it is widely agreed the Big 10 is, by far, the worst officiated is even more justified.

Iowa’s QB and entire offensive line are stealing money by by being on an athletic scholarship. Brian Ferentz should be in prison for fraud, maybe his dad too for employing him.

Pj deserves zero credit for 4 field goals and being bailed out by a replay official who would write a speeding ticket for going 56 in a 55.

Honestly, it could be worse and you are Michigan State on National TV and actively promoting Adolph Hitler! Like they did during their game against Michigan. And now blaming a 3rd party…..Really?

Saturday, October 12th the Gopher’s play UCLA in Rose Bowl. In My near 60 years on this Earth do I take one of my last years to go to Pasadena and watch them play?

I am thinking yes. I will be rewarding bad behavior…..but still….. I have been awaiting this my entire lifetime.

As of today, I am going.

I’ve been on the travel sites nearly every day.

Watching Michigan play Alabama just reinforced this. One of my coaches at Iowa St had a ring from playing in the Rose Bowl when he was at Minnesota in 1962.

I hate PJ….I am old!

But…to see Minnesota play in the Rose Bowl…..I can’t miss it…… no matter the circumstances.
