Tyler Hirsh

Post by Hockeyisthebest21 »

I caught word of it not too long after it happend, it is truly bizarre. Losing is frusteraing, sometimes you need to punish yourself, I don't see anything really that wrong. At least he is trying to do something about it.
Another version of the story, but basically the same

<a href="http://www.uscho.com/recaps/20042005/m/ ...

Exorcising Demons?
After the game, Tyler Hirsch appeared to act out some ritual to exorcise the lack of scoring that plagued his Gopher teammates after Friday's 3-0 loss to the Tigers. It was the first shutout against Minnesota in 82 games, dating back to a 4-0 loss to Maine on Oct 10, 2003.

Standing at center ice after the teams had left for the locker rooms, Hirsch motioned to the maintenance crew to shut the Zamboni doors. He obtained a puck and skated in on the empty net, taking a slapshot from 10 feet and then driving the net into the boards with his body.

He skated to center ice, laid his stick down and went to the locker room.

"It was bizarre — let's leave it at that," said Minnesota coach Don Lucia.

I also don't believe he should be punished but maybe a little therapy might help, how weird!

He has been taken out of the lineup for the remainder of the season, huge loss for the gophers.
I hope he recovers from whatever issues he is going through.

Damn! Well I hope this isn't the end to his hockey career like some are saying. He's got a ton of talent and can go far. Best of luck Hirsch! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Best wishes to Tyler. He's a huge ingridient to the Golden Gopher hockey team, perhaps the MVP. He's one of my favorites to watch and I hope he gets through this time. I think there's more to this than just frustration...

Yeah, anyone? I never really thought of it. I don't know if a video camera would catch it or not.

Hirsch clip

Post by frozensi »

93X has a link to the Hirsch video, they were talking about it with Shaver this morning. Go to 93x.com and it's right there on the front page, I can't get it to open here at work, have to wait to see it at home.

93X site has a story about the game but has taken the video clip off the site - "too many downloads" is the reason. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

That's been the ongoing problem that whenever a site puts the clip up, it gets overwhelmed and has to take it back down.

After seeing the clip, I'm still not sure what I was seeing. Weird.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

Hirschorama

Post by ChippyBulldogFan »

I thought it was strange to say the least, but nowhere near as serious as a lot of people are making it out to be. Sounds to me like Lucia's had run-ins with this kid before and tried to keep that part of it under wraps for the sake of the rest of the team, keep it "in-house" as much as possible. Then Hirsch goes and pulls a stunt like this for everyone to see, and bingo...instant controversy in the middle of playoff time. Not something the team needs to deal with on top of trying to concentrate on hockey. I'd be pissed, too, if I was Lucia. He wouldn't play the rest of this season and I don't know if I'd invite him back for next year.

We should not speculate to much on what is going on with Hirsch. Sounds like some very personal issues and untill something is published by Gophers or the Hirsch family we should just wish him well and let it be. Out of respect.

There's nothing wrong with speculation since we all know next to nothing. He chose to make a fool of himself in a very public venue, so of course people are going to talk. I don't think it's anywhere near as dramatic as people are making it out to be.

Issues? He played a bad game and was upset and wanted everyone to know about it. It was stupid, it was disrespectful to his teammates, his coaches and his school, and he should've given it a little more thought. And he really ticked off his coach. I'd bench him, too.

I'm not aware of any other issues except that his "fans" want to turn this into a bad episode of "Dr. Phil," and I don't think it's going to end up being quite the drama that some people want to think it is.

I think you all can speculate but I would bet any amount of $ you won't ever see him in a UofM sweater ever again....sourcess say. Which is really too bad, he stuck it out and put up with two disappointing years, next year would have been a big one for him in a very serious leadership role. Pressure at the U can break these guys backs. It is too bad to see anything like this happen to any kids. For what its worth, there IS more to it than meets the eye. I strongly disagree with Lucia's decision on this one. I really want to know the OTHER reasons why he is suspended. What he did was not bad, it was just a kid mad at the way the game went. I am sure other people have done way worse things after a disappointing loss, I know I have.

None of us really know what the truth is behind all this, and we are all just making assumptions about what happened and why tyler hirsch did what he did. People got to realize when reading this that these are assumptions cause it could give him a bad name.
