I don't miss the NHL. Why? Because it is absolutely boring to watch teams skate to a 1-1 tie with 90% of the play in the neutral zone because both teams like to trap. The NHL needs to change their game, otherwise they have no hope.

Here are some examples:
My family has season tickets to the wild and I refused to go to any games last year because of the style of hockey being played. It was so boring and doesn't promote skill, just big guys with big sticks.

Watching the UNH vs. Denver game on Altitude (Colorado Channel) I saw two or three plays that were long stretch passes resulting in breakaways, one even a penalty shot. This can't happen in the NHL because of the two-line pass rule. That is by far the worst rule in hockey. The NHL needs more scoring, they two-line pass rule only hinders scoring. That rule definitely needs to go.

Those are just two examples of why the NHL sucks and I don't miss it at all!
AHA 2002 & 2005 State Champions!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... iakChew at: 4/4/05 7:02 pm

Yeah Chew, have you seen the NHL playoffs before? I remember you complaining about this two years ago so I guess you feel pretty strongly about it.

yeah, and it makes me sad to see guys only try in the playoffs and not at all in the regular season. I believe Brett Hull said he doesn't know why anyone would ever pay to see a regular season NHL game. The playoffs don't make up for the rest of the crappy season the NHL provides. Don't get me wrong, I love hockey, just not the brand the NHL was providing.

Most of America agrees with me too, for example:
ESPN is getting better ratings with second rate college basketball teams, and even women's basketball than the NHL last year. I'm not the only one who feels this way.

The NHL needs to straiten some things out to improve the game, that in turn will improve their financial issues. But what the hell do I know, I'm only a hockey player and fan myself.

Screw the fans, or says the NHL.
AHA 2002 & 2005 State Champions!

Yea i agree with you on a lot of things like, needing to do a major change on the play of the game, like taking out the redline, making the nets bigger, things to increase the game play.

Stupid Question

Post by RinkRat10506 »

This might be stupid question but why would it help to take out the red line? Would it be to get rid of the two-line pass rule? If so why not just get rid of that rule instead?

Two Line Pass

Post by BabyBlueFan4Life »

The two line pass is probably the worst rule in sports. It would be like outlawing a long bomb in football, it prevents the big play from happening.

Two line pass rule

Post by RinkRat10506 »

It is a stupid rule. It takes away from the excitement in the game. I like watching goals being scored not a 1-0 game or a 1-1 tie.

I don't really care about the NHL that much because it is pretty boring to watch on t.v.. Going to a NHL is much different though, it seems a lot quicker. The reason a lot people don't care about it is because they don't know anything about it, it's boring, and they don't have the tradition involved in it, like a lot of Minnesotans do.

Yes they should take the 2 line pass away. its just dumb. And i think the NHL should play a 200x100 instead of 200x85 sheet of ice. it will spread it out more. it'll help more plays and scoring chances to set up.

But that will take up more seats and that means less money, stupid NHL. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/sick.gif ALT=":x">
