Minnesota Twins
Opening day is just around the corner and I think it will be another great summer of baseball for the only team I care about (besides my fantasy team) THE TWINS!

Yea, until they get to the playoffs and get spanked by the Yanks! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">

Twins
If Mauer stays healthy and Morneau is recovered, this team could be very dangerous. But Randy Johnson could shut us down. But maybe Johan will cancel him out, I sure hope so. The Twins are always fun to watch.

Re: Twins
Heck who knows, maybe the Twins (assuming they make the playoffs) won't get the Yanks this year for once....<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes">

Re: Twins
For those who don't know, Twins PA Announcer Bob Casey passed away early this morning. Keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Re: Twins
I saw that, forgot to mention it. It's very sad to see Casey pass on... What a career that man had. I will never forget his voice.

My prayers go out to his family all the way.

P.S. Anyone know who's going to take over for the legend now?? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /alien.gif ALT="0]">

Re: Twins
It will be interesting to see who they have replace him. I know they have someone already planned because Casey was supposed to only do like the first 4 innings of every game this year as he went into retirement. I'm guessing whoever was going to finish the games will get the job. I'm guessing Sid or someone will let us know in the paper in the upcoming days. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Re: Twins
My personal fave was when Knoblauch came back and they had the hotdogs getting thrown at them and Casey had to make an announcement that it had to stop or the game would be forfeighted, he read it by the book until the end when he added in like a Grandpa would say: "Come on guys, knock it off." I love hearing that audio clip <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

I liked that one too.....

Another good one.

"There is nooooooo smoooking in the Metrodome. If you wanna smoke go to Detroit." (They were playing Detroit at the time I heard this one.) Another one of his patented phrases.

Another classic from Bob was when Otis Nixon was on the Twins' club back in 1998.

"Now batting, Amos Otis!"

At that a time, a member of the Twins public relations staff came down to tell him "it's Nixon!".

"Correction, Amos Nixon!"

Re: Twins
Yes, and they will not be naming his replacement until next year. This season the PA announcers will be on an interim basis. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Re: Minnesota Twins
First off, happy 2000th post to ER. Secondly, about Baltimore, they have a very underrated pitching staff in Bedard, Cabrera, and Ponson (if he gets his stuff altogether).

Now to the NL. I got the Marlins taking the NL East, the Cardinals taking the NL Central, the Padres taking the NL West, and the D'Backs (yes, the D'Backs) taking the Wild Card. It will be Minnesota beating the Padres (yes, the Padres) in the World Series. Watch San Diego the rest of the year. By August I think they will be the hot pick out of the NL.
-------------------

"75 percent of the world is covered by water. The rest is covered by Smoot." --Fred Smoot

Re: Minnesota Twins
Koren I like the Paads (Padres) as well but I think the Marlins have got to be the pick out of the NL, they have got it all. Speed, defense, great pitching, quite a bit of power, they are a very dangerous club. Should be very interesting to see how this year plays out, I'm taking my Twins and the fish in the World Series. Nice 6-3 win for the boys tonight, GO TWINS!

The Padres & the D-BACKS??? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek"> Talk about going out on a limb...

I do think the Orioles have a good pitching staff (will be amazing in 2-3 years), but it doesn't measure up to the rest in the East and their bullpen is questionable at best.

As far as the NL goes: Braves in the East (they've done it 13 straight, why not 14?), Cardinals in the Central (seriously, who else is gonna take it), the Dodgers in the West (I had to pick someone) and the Marlins with the Wild Card. I like NewGuy's pick (wow, never thought I'd say that) of the Marlins in the World Series except they are going against my team of choice, the Yankees in a rematch of the 2002 World Series. Hopefully this year it has a different outcome <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"> .

And I just had to put this in here because it sounds familiar to something I said earlier in this thread. From "You know you're from Minnesota when...":

Quote:
You are convinced the Twins will never win the pennant because the owners are too cheap to pay the good players, so they all leave.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls
