I'm realistic, I was wooped pretty good growing up by Roseau, Warroad, TRF and many of the range teams, but I also would call dominating section 8 every year with the exception of two years in the last 14 a success.

Roseau/Moorhead

Post by Green and White Fan » Tue Jan 24, 2006 2:17 pm

That we are even having a discussion that Roseau has a chance in this game, says loads about the Roseau program. Not making any excuses, but lets remember that we are talking about a high school that has more kids in its senior class then Roseau does in its top 3 grades. Roseau is not that many years removed from a state championship. Many may disagree, but Roseau has been and still is one of the best stories in Minnesota High school hockey. Some have posted that we are inconsistant and can not maintain at a top level each year. Duh! We have about 35 kids to pick from each year for varsity and jv, not every year are we going to have stud athletes, to keep us in the top of the rankings. For us to have won 2 state championships in the 90's, remember Moorhead has never won a banner, says loads about the Roseau hockey community. When Roseau won state in 1999, there was only one smaller school in the whole tournament, A or AA. Do we want Moorhead to bow to us, heck no! On the other hand, Moorhead has not earned alot of respect from Roseau people because of the fans attitude that they are in some way better than us. Moorhead can yap all they want, but the main thing they want is a banner to hang. Lucky they come to Roseau once a year so they can see what a real banner and trophy case looks like. The Moorhead program is on the map in a large part because of the dedication and effort put forth by former Ram hockey players. One last thing, to the poster who said the Spuds don't even celebrate beating Roseau in the Region championship anymore. Thanks for the comic relief. When the Rams were up 2-0 in the championship game last year, there were some mighty nervous Spud fans. Good luck to the Spuds tonight. Enjoy your night in a town that has had real high school hockey success.

In the early 90's we wouldn't even schedule the Falls. and as you guys all know that was where the coach was from. I probably wouldn't have wanted to embarass my home town either

BIAFP have they ever played???

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... eamer11 at: 1/24/06 2:40 pm

what came first the chicken or the egg? That's B.S. that Moorhead fans think they are better. Roseau has always had the aura of the "hockey greats" Now that Moorhead competes and dominates that by default means the fans have attitudes. Keep your pride that's great but don't come down on us for having some too.

Roseau is the past, Moorhead the Present, and Roseau the future of section 8.

This year I call a toss up, next year, if Jordy stays in Moorhead, it will be another toss up, but after that it is Roseau for years to come (assuming no one decides to leave).
Moorhead sets a new state tournament record!

Moorhead fans (most) think they are the greatest thing in MN hockey don't lie to yourself! I agree, the Spuds have had some outstanding teams.......I don't fault them for being "proud". But there is a certain arrogance that says if you're not a Moorhead hockey team, you're nothing.....is evident in most fans that I see.

I hate to admit, but one year I actually decided to cheer for Moorhead while at state.......I made a point to stop a Spud fan at the state tourney with best wellwishes.....he sneared at me when he saw my Roseau jacket and stuck his nose up in the air!

Anytime a Roseau bus comes to Moorhead, the only thing I notice is middle fingers raised to our buses......real class act?

Pride is one thing.......brutal arrogance is another.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... The comment about the spuds not celebrating after beating Roseau was about the players. Of course the fans celebrate that is why so many make the trip every year. Also, the fans may have been nervous after it was 2-0, but the players never questioned if they were going to win. I don't mean to be disrespectful, of course they are proud and excited to go to state, but they have higher goals.
