A New State of Hockey????

Post by OnceaBengalAlwaysaBengal »

Is anyone else a little P.O'ed by the statement last night during the NCAA Title Game referencing that "Minnesota has lost the right to be called the State of Hockey" and it now belongs to Wisconsin? Than I pull up an article on USCHO.Com and again I see the same thing being posted. What gives here so sure Minnesota didnt get to the NCAA Championships, but we do have 5 D-1 Programs, the worldest greatest High school Teams, and the most prestigious High School Tourny in the World. And I am sorry one year of good luck in the NCAA's does not constitute the right to call yourselves the New state of hockey. Sorry Bucky

youre right

you are absolutely right. Wisconsin sucks and the only reason other states can compete is by stealing MN players!!

Thirded. No clue how they even suggest that. Those Wisconsin fans with the signs need a wake-up call.

It doesnt even bug me it just shows how dumb those fools in cheese country are. high school

Post by gh12345 »

The reason minnesoata has one of the most prestigous state tournament and the best high school teams is because most of the world plays midget hockey and have chances to win national championships. I think that national champion sounds alot better than state champion.

I agree with you gh12345, but Minnesota is the most deep in talent and has the best hockey in the nation in my mind. No doubt about it.

Top to bottom there is no question that Minnesota has the most talent. The elite players from most other states are forced to go the midget route to get recognition.

Talk to the boys from other states, ask them (no wait), they will just tell you. They wish they lived in Minnesota.

Before we get our underwear in a bunch, let's just look at where the comment originated. Wasn't the Boo-yah/ back, back, back, back Network televising the game last night? What credibility do they have with hockey anymore? Didn't they give up on the NHL? What hockey did they even televise this year? Too bad great play by play guys like Gary Thorne are screwed out of calling their best sport. Gary Thorne must have loved going to Provo, Spokane, and Albuquerque for Big Monday's finale this winter.

MN has twice the amount of D1 players as any other state (I believe it's around 230-250), whereas Mass. has about 120, and Wiscosin sits at a lowly 27.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... kstuff9 at: 4/11/06 1:36 pm

It needs to be mentioned that the first 4 women's champions came out of Minnesota, not to mention 2 of the last 5 on the men's side.

Damn, first time in four years Minnesota Hockey (men's and women's) won't win an NCAA championship. Wisconsin could never have a four year run like that.
