Triton also rocked Rochester Lourdes 13-2 last night. They are a good young team with only 3 seniors on the roster.

Aaron Senne is probably the best hitter to come out of Rochester since Fritz Polka in the early '80's. Polka was drafted by the Mets #49 overall in 1986. Mike Restovich was drafted #61 overall by the Twins as a comparison.

Cotter=2006 HVL Champions

Post by hendy1621 »

Cotter beat Triton 10-5 today in the HVL championship. Cotter scored 6 runs in the first inning including a grand slam off of Triton's sophmore starter and never looked back.

Look out for the Paynesville Bulldogs ( a school in the co-op of River Lakes)....they have a very good chance to repeat in class AA...they started out strong and kind of went into a slump...but play-offs are coming up and they are turning up their game....

Bemidji over GR is an upset only because GR is rated #1.
I would rate both of them somewhere around #8.

I think Rapids is a legit top three team. Bemidji 8-10. Grand Rapids didn't play their best and Bemidji played a very good game. A lot of credit to Bemidji. That centerfielder can play some ball too.

Bemidji did pitch their 4 or 5 pitcher.

I am saying #8 for GR looking at their schedule and see some not so tough competition and a loss to Moorhead (not that Moorhead is bad, but not a top section 8 team & not historically a strong baseball town).

Bemidji as a #8 is a little of a stretch but definitely a strong team in a playoff situation because of depth (especially on the mound). Hitting (especially in crucual situations) has been a problem.

Nate Brown is one heck of a ball player. (I coached him a couple of years back, but cannot take credit because he has some natural attributes and a great work ethic. I wish he had not given up on hockey after squirts.)

But if the Indians er.. GR can win the state, I will be happy.
If the Lumberjacks can get out of Section 8 and win one or two I iwll be happy.

Side Note: When I coached this group of seniors, we lost to Iowa in the Cal Ripken regional final. Had we won we would have played in the World Series.
