Blades of Glory

Post by nbsupremexxx » Mon Dec 11, 2006 4:59 pm

Anyone Read it?

Blades of Glory is a biography written by John Rosengren. The book follows the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguar High School boys varsity hockey team during their 2000-2001 season.

There is also a movie coming out with Will Ferrel called Blades of Glory, it has nothing to do with Jefferson

Absolutely... if you're a fan of Jefferson it's especially good but it shows the hardships that alot of hockey players go through. If you get the chance.. read it.

If you're a Jaguar fan, you'll love it, if not, I am not sure, it's good, but not a must-read for anyone outside of the Jefferson program. And if you are a Jefferson fan, don't read the last chapter.

I did not particularly like it.

It is definitely worth reading, if you or you have children involved with sports. Or have an interest in youth sports.

Opening Line,

I should read it. John Rosengren was a teacher of mine in HS when I was at STA. I had him Freshman year and Senior Year. He was the toughest teacher as far as grades that I have ever had. He was also a teacher that I learned a huge amount from, much more so than the majority of the other teachers I ever had. Hockey was a topic that came up many times in class. I will definately have to read that book though. Does anyone have any idea what he is doing now?

I read it last summer. If you played High School hockey you will appreciate the book, whether you played at Jefferson or Kittson County. It just conjures up those old emotions that only come from playing high school hockey in minnesota. Great read in my opinion.

How much do you dislike jefferson. Its about their 2000-2001 season.

Whenever the name Jefferson or Jaguars appears, replace it with your highschool or the team you like most.

Honestly, its a great book and an easy read for all hockey fans reguardless of age or team preferance.

I'm a Holy Angels fan and I didn't think the book was too bad. Needless to say I really really don't like Jefferson.
Third times a charm.

Wow, I'm only half-way through and already I'm in love. Great book with lots of stuff that I didn't know about.

My question though, what are any of the guys that were talked about in the book (with the exception of Hirsch, Parise, Parrish and anyone else who is common knowledge) doing? There are a lot of names in there, but if anyone knows what any of them are doing it would be appreciated.

Tom Gilbert is one of the main characters in the book. He was the captain of the Badgers last season and scored the winnong goal in the National Championship game. I believe he signed with Edmondton this summer and is playing in their farm system
