Will be interesting to see of Zach Johnson stays at STMA or moves to a private program (I've heard that a group of the '90 Lightning kids are enrolling at Providence Academy). This team will have good defense again (hence their goalie being ranked #12 in the metro - not much of a goalie, but you don't have to be when the majority of shots are forced from the outside and all rebounds cleared), but no scoring strength, unless the Johnson kids comes back. Sounds like they had a pretty decent JV team. One of the Chisago coaches told me they had a 10th grade goaltender who was actually pretty good, but apparently the kid got hurt in a car crash around Christmas and never quite recovered. Not sure what his status for next year.

STMA needs to upgrade their schedule. They had a winning season but didn't play anybody outside of the Rum River conference who was any good. Stronger schedules will develop stronger teams.

Other teams in that area who WILL improve include Monticello, Rogers, and without a doubt Buffalo! Youth programs in all of these towns are getting larger and stronger

MNPuckester - Your comments are right on - I also hear rumor that their head coach may not be coming back. Any word on his status?

Head Coach is Brian Mashuga. I understand the rumor is that he will take the Andover job. He and his family live in Andover so it is a natural fit. But I have also heard that one of the Edina assistants is the front runner for this job.

Rumors are what they are....
