Johnson Prez
More than anything else, last year it came as a complete surprise to us when we showed up at game scheduling that we would have to play D1 teams four times. I believe our PWA team played Johnson six times including the playoffs last year. We asked if we could play two games with 'double points' instead of four and were told no.
I would think that D1 could set up some cross district "scrimmage game" type of format for the Saint Paul teams against first ring suburban out of district teams, but I think the best way for it to get done is to contact some of the lower associations in terms of coompetitiveness in those districts and ask them about setting up a formalized 'cross district' scrimmage game schedule. Then, take this plan to D1 and the other district and bring MN Hockey into the discussion.
I think the key is, our District directors are stretched thin and to make something like this work, you need to develop the plan and bring it to them. If it makes sense, I have found MN Hockey, D1 & in our case D3's representatives have been great to work with.
I believe that Edison will only be playing D3 w/Tri-City. They only contributed a few teams last year to D1. SW Prez

I guess we will just have to wait until tommorrow morning to find out what associations will do what at the scheduling meeting at Edison. We did end up playing your "A" Pee Wee's times last year and all games were very good hard fought games. I coached one of the all star pee wee teams and had some of your players and they were gret kids. Good Luck this season.
SW/SLP - Advanced 15
SWPrez, Thanks for posting the information on your program. I have a question in regards to the end of the season and the Advanced 15 program. Last year the SW/SLP A Bantam team happened to be primarily made up of players from SLP. The sad thing is that those players had to go back to D3 in order to participate in the Advanced 15 program. Historically, over the years there have not been too many SLP A bantam players involved with the Advanced 15 program in D3 due to the strength of the district.
Since you have worked with some D3 and MN Hockey contacts on your project, it may be worthwhile for your group to inquire if this could change. Not knowing how many SLP players are or will be on your bantam A team this season, they would help the D1 Advanced 15 pool and may have a better chance of participating in the Advanced 15 program within the D1 program.
As I said, this is just a question that I think should be given a little more thought, and could be a win-win situation for some of those players and D1. Last years D1 Advanced 15 team did have 1 player from SLP, but that player actually played on the SLP JV team and originated out of the SW area. It may be a good idea to bring this up early as the Advanced 15 General Managers meeting is usually in late December in the St. Cloud area. Just a thought.

Just in the new Johnson "A" Bantam coach selected both goaltenders from last years "A" Pee Wee team and cut Jeremy Wurst last years goalie that almost lead Johnson to the State Tournament. Did Tyler Fitzel have any say in this, it sounds like something he would do. Maybe we should be looking for more goalies from Johnson in the future. History does repeat itself.
Welll Tunavichy that's what happens when you have parents that coach they do not what to sleep on the couch at home.
Como is looking for a B goialie for bamtams they don't have one. I 'am looking forward to playing the Johnson A bamtams if all the 2nd year Como kids stay we will have a very good team.
P.S. Sorry to hear that Jeremy , We know how you feel we have been there. Good Luck to you.

I don't think this is simply a case of parent coaching. How long has that parent been in the orginization? How long has the goalie been there?
All I can say is that you don't just get handed an A level job without putting in some time. So I'm sure this guy didn't just walk in this year for the first time to coach in the program. DID HE?????

As far as I know, this new Johnson Bantam A coach has never coached at Johnson. Looks like they don't have any good coaches left.
How come Pogreba didn't take it?
He's been such a huge part of the success there for a long time. The peewee teams he puts out are always tough to play. Most times tough just to beat.

Most of these posts are stupid Richfield does not even have a team. Maybe next year they will and be called Richfield/Bllom. Kennedy/Spring Lake Park/Forest Lake. I think we can call this co-op Richfield Tornados something like Mpls. Park Storm does.
