Grand Rapids/Greenway Lightning Thread

Post by boblee » Mon Dec 18, 2006 9:39 am

Since the Lightning get a good following/viewing by this "bored" I have created this thread. It will start now. Some of us have already made our Hibbing predictions in the other thread, but others can throw theirs in here...and the few of us can copy ours in here. This thread is for predictions, scores, other 7AA scores, game recaps, thoughts, and bantar. Start posting. Go Lightning!

i think hibbing is going to get beat by grg, probably 3-2. i don't know who will be in nets for this game but they will have to stay strong and play focused if the lightning is going to come out ahead in this one

Well I hope you can get there. It would be great to read some feedback from someone other than myself.

Final Score--

Grand Rapids/Greenway 2
Hibbing 1

Newton and Johnson scored for the Lightning. Havel was VERY good, making 31 saves. Pretty good team effort. They are ready for Duluth...here is that prediction...

GRG 5 EN
Duluth 3

Great win by the girls. After this big win and all then talk this team gets on the message bored no one has anything to say?

They played well and clawed back to take the win. This could be the galvinizing victory the teams needs to keep it rolling. Good luck against Duluth.

finally the win over hibbing

Post by hockeyofthenorth » Wed Dec 20, 2006 11:27 pm

unfortunately, i couldn't make it to the game last night but i was very happy to hear the lightning finally beat hibbing. whether hibbing is the power they once were or not, I heard it was a great game with many scoring opportunities on both sides. kudos to the lightning for getting some fire back in their skates!!

Pat Rendle won't be coaching tonight. He is in Edina to watch his son.

Its not like there are no assistant coaches. And its not like he skips every chance he gets. Would you not want to see your son play high school hockey?

Don't blame me for putting water on all your guys's fires, but i fail to see a reason for all of the hype behind GRG. I don't know much about them, but they don't seem to be anything too special. I really don't understand some of the predictions of the Hibbing Game..."8-0.....running time". Hibbing is obviously a solid team, since the game ended 2-1. Hibbing just worked Bemidji tonight 3-0.

I think GRG has a lot to overcome to get far in the playoffs. Obviously CEC is gonna come to play, and Forest Lake seems solid as well. I'd even give the East/Central/Denfeld team an outside shot.

All in all, I think that GRG is a little overhyped on this board. I'll give it to them, they look like they are a quality team, but come on, be a little realistic.

Grand Rapids/Greenway 4
Duluth Co-op 3

Erickson-2 goals
Clafton-goal
Newton-goal

Hammann in nets for GRG. Big win for the Lightning who if they hold their own will be a top 3 seed in the section now.
