Hermantown vs. International Falls 1/5

Post by Zamboni Guy »

The 12-0-1 Hermantown Hawks are hosting the tough International Falls Broncos on Friday, January 5th at Hermantown Arena. The Hawks are coming off of a hard fought 1-1 tie with cross-town rival Duluth Marshall while International Falls is coming off of a suprising loss to Eveleth-Gilbert-Mesabi East. Will the Broncos tough goaltending be enough to slow down the Hawks? Toughts and predictions?

I'm gonna go with...

Hermantown - 4
International Falls - 0

Nathan Hardy has done nothing but impress me this season, I'm gonna say he's able to pull out a shut-out of the Broncos.

only chance the Falls has,,is Kjelle, and the emotional game Hermantown played the night before...otherwise,,,could be ugly.

Final Score: Hermantown 3
Int'l Falls 2

Correction on saves... Hjelle 53
H-Town 23

Hermantown's first lead of the game was 13 minutes left in 3rd period. Overall, a fine game for Hjelle and the Falls. But, a lot can be said for Hermantown coming off last nights hard fought tie with D. Marshall.

Hjelle must be a fantastic netminder to keep score that close with all those shots!

The game was on 104.1 KSDM out of Int'l Falls.

As for Hjelle, he's the real deal. I wish more people could get out and watch this kid tend the nets. I hope he gets a chance to play in front of the entire state in March, then everybody can realize how good he is.

I can't even imagine how tired and sweaty this kid is after these games. 10-15+ a period doesn't sound like a whole lot, but it really takes a toll on a goalie, being I was one and was in games like these. The gear, plus all the movement really takes a toll on you. I've also seen Hjelle play, and he's the most fundamentally sound goalie I've seen for quite some time. From the moment I saw him I could tell he's going places.
