The 12-0-1 Hermantown Hawks are hosting the tough International Falls Broncos on Friday, January 5th at Hermantown Arena. The Hawks are coming off of a hard fought 1-1 tie with cross-town rival Duluth Marshall while International Falls is coming off of a suprising loss to Eveleth-Gilbert-Mesabi East. Will the Broncos tough goaltending be enough to slow down the Hawks? Toughts and predictions?
Hermantown's first lead of the game was 13 minutes left in 3rd period. Overall, a fine game for Hjelle and the Falls. But, a lot can be said for Hermantown coming off last nights hard fought tie with D. Marshall.
As for Hjelle, he's the real deal. I wish more people could get out and watch this kid tend the nets. I hope he gets a chance to play in front of the entire state in March, then everybody can realize how good he is.
I can't even imagine how tired and sweaty this kid is after these games. 10-15+ a period doesn't sound like a whole lot, but it really takes a toll on a goalie, being I was one and was in games like these. The gear, plus all the movement really takes a toll on you. I've also seen Hjelle play, and he's the most fundamentally sound goalie I've seen for quite some time. From the moment I saw him I could tell he's going places.
