Since I don't have a clue about this Breck team, I looked up their record and I see they are quite strong this year, and sounds like they have a strong goalie....soooo....I am gonna have to say this one will be a tough one for the Lightning. But I do believe the Lightning can beat them if they really really want to! Oh, and that's also if Havel is in nets! Looks like it will be a great challenge for the orange and green! Can't give a score at this point!

I don't have a clue either. I only saw GRG for their first game of the season and they got smoked by Roseville. Obviously it's a totally different team now. Saw Breck last week and they were really clicking.

Breck? GRG?

Post by trilogy »

Let's see, Havel in nets, edge to GRG on goaltending

Good overall depth, edge to Breck

Players that dazzle, edge to GRG, they have 1 or 2 that can score at will

Comparison of records, Breck has a better record, but GRG has overcome adversity early in the season, edge to GRG

I say Breck is the underdog, but look for a close one, no blowout here

Predict higher scoring game, may be 5-4.

Grand Rapids/Greenway 4
Breck 3

That is a final.

Lightning scoring:

Bialon
Erickson (Clafton)
Bialon (Newton, Erickson) PP
Erickson (Arola?) PP

GRG went up 1-0
Breck went up 2-1
Lightning scored 3 unanswered
Breck got the final one.

Still waiting on final shots...

Everything I said came to pass, 'cept a goal apiece on the score. Good aggressive game to watch. :)

Well boblee, either team could have won this one. Breck had the momentum early on and they started the game looking very solid. But Breck did not give #10 Emily enough respect and she killed them on turnovers. A couple of nice saves by the Breck goalie but you can't do much when Ms. Emily shoots it high in the upper corner, all net

Both goalies played pretty good, but they both also had a bit of luck too. There were some very close plays on both sides and excitement all the way to the end of the game. All the goals were good ones, IMHO, no softies tonight!

2nd period was all GRG, and the 3rd was just plain hard-fought both ways. Nothing controversial, average number of penalties. Few play stoppages in the 3rd period, they just kept skating hard the entire game.

GRG looked confident and was more physical. Breck passed more and was the faster team. Both teams could do more forechecking, there were moments where the feet were not moving.

But I think GRG will have more trouble with Hopkins tomorrow, unless Hopkins plays under par. GRG capitalized tonight on one Breck line that seemed to be having problems. Not sure but I think this is a new line combo that wasn't there the last time I saw a Breck game which was early in the season. Hopkins I think is better than Breck so I look for GRG to come up short on Saturday. Hopkins goalie is stronger than Breck's so if she is hot the GRG girls won't find their job any easier.

Still say these are perfect games for Hopkins, Breck and GRG to be playing late-season. No matter who wins these teams are getting a tuneup for sections
