Cretin 07-08

Post by DirtyDangler » Fri Aug 24, 2007 3:07 pm

There hasn't been any topics about Cretin-Derham Hall's team for next season...with the loss of many key players how will this years team compare to recent years?

I think the lack of posts should speak for itself.

I wouldn't count on them falling too far. The new guys have the ability to step up, and the coaching to help them.

Cretin will be good the second half.

Mock my words...

Obviously the team wont be as good as last years team with the loss of Ryan Mcdonagh, Chris Hickey, and Ben Hause...Cretin had a strong JV program last year with two players coming up this year Mike Bangs with 19 goals and 34 assists and linemate Gage Miller 20 goals and 25 assists should help the offense...and goalie Chris Weyandt should be a decent replacement for Hause...with the strong coaching staff at Cretin I would say they have potential

they should still be solid. Bohrer will be sick for them for his fourth year now. Zimmerman should have a solid season after two years of experience. Bangs should also be good for them with 3/4 of last season varsity for experience. Deflorin and miller should also be decent. They should have a solid d core with 3 returners and alt coming up who made nationals for 16's.

cretin will be okay next year. They only really have Bohrer Zimmerman and bangs at forward. They should have a solid d core, but they don't have much depth at offense besides those three.

Bohrer is the man. This kid is a big time D1 prospect.

I think people will be surprised a little bit. They should a solid group of 8 or 9 forwards. Sophomore Mark Alt is also very good, he made nationals for 16s and is said to already be a legit d-1 prospect. With Alt and 3 more returning solid D the raiders will have a chance of coming out of 3AA. Look for team that probable wont ever be top 5 but could break the top 10 or 20 in state. people need to realize that the loss CDH experienced is the same almost everyone is else is experiencing throughout the state (except for roseau, edina and hill). expectations need to be made accordingly.

I agree The Raiders will be a good team this next season. Alt and Bangs will make a big impact.

Bangs will have an impact. Cretin can be a top 20 team all year, but the younger kids will have to develop quickly if they want to contend for a state title.

I dont know why you dont care for Mr Bangs. He is a solid player with alot of talent. Raiders should make it to state this year. The secton is not as strong as its been in the past.

Here is a reminder of what section 3AA now looks like for everyone...

Apple Valley High School
Cretin-Derham Hall High School
Eagan High School
Eastview High School
Hastings High School
Henry Sibley High School
Park High School
Rosemount High School
Woodbury High School

Many of those teams can compete.

Good point boblee. Its a tough section from top to bottom.

No great teams but alot of very competitive ones. Take the night off and seasons over.

But on the topic of CDH.........hey, they are Catholic. What else do you need to know?

Its not that I don't care for him and I agree that he has some talent and potential. He needs to keep his mouth shut a little more and let his actions speak for his ability. Especially at the varsity level.

I thought Ben McClellan stood out in the JV games I saw the Raiders play last year.

benny mcclellan should be okay next year but he won't make as much of an impact as bohrer bangs zimmerman alt and gage miller will. He is just too small.

I dont think Cretin will have any problems with their top two lines...and the defense squad looks pretty solid...goaltending may or may not be a problem this year for the raiders...definite players to watch...Zimmerman, Bohrer, Bangs, Miller, and Alt

I agree the top two lines should be pretty solid...I expect to see Cretin in the state tournament this year...although they will be underdogs it will be exciting to see what this team can do

I see mcclellan as having a bigger impact than miller, miller is afraid of contact sometimes. Also reurners , Bobzien, Tipping, Ehrmanntraut and DeFlorin should be mentioned along with Alt, Bohrer, Zimmerman and Bangs. Why is Mychael Bangs' name mentioned so much.......I wonder ...........?

another jv player to look out for is bobby donohue. He was the captain of the team and scored a ton of goals. The kid has great hands and probably is the best passer behind boherer in the progam

Many of those teams can compete.
As can most of the teams in the Suburban East. Losing McDonagh and Hickey is huge. I always though Drew Darwitz was rock solid playing in McDonagh's shadow as well.
