| Just curious....why does Eden Prairie hold their Jr. Gold tryouts before the high school tryouts and how does this affect the kids who get cut from high school? |

The kids that are trying out for high school and haven't played JV or Varsity need to tryout for Jr Gold first. If they don't make a team they are placed accordingly to a Jr Gold team (could be A could be B, depends on talent). If you have already played JV or V you don't need to do the Jr Gold tryout route. Then if you are cut from JV or V you automatically make Jr Gold A. However, I'm pretty sure that both Varsity and Jr Gold A teams are picked before high school tryouts even start  .
Is Eden Prairie the only city to do that?
