As far as the DIII scene goes as an option for high school players, the change is significant in recent years. If one takes time to scrutinize this list and the actual rosters themselves (not to mention the JV rosters) they are loaded with kids who have first played 1-2 years of juniors along with canadians and some european kids mixed in. Out of all the teams in MIAC, it looks like there are only 2 true freshman right out of high school from last year that a regular varsity starting players (Fogarty from Forest Lake playing on Bethel and Wieck from Roseville playing on Gustavus). These days it looks like the competition is just as tough for a high school kid to play DIII as it is DI and either way you choose the most likely route is through juniors first

Speedskills don't forget James Olmscheid from St Cloud Cathedral. He is a true freshman playing for St Johns. He has started 16 out of 17 games. Pretty solid if you ask me....

Thanks, i figured a player or two would slip by, however my point remains the same. Nowadays the skill level required is so high in Division III, unless you are an exceptional player, stepping right out of high school and onto a varsity roster as a starter just aint gonna happen anymore.
