Thanks CNT. After the Twins went quietly in the 9th I did go unfurl Jolly Roger just to see how he made it through the summer, he's a little tattered and torn but will certainly be sea worthy and battle ready when the time comes.
A few final thoughts on some of the high, lows, and defining moments of the 2008 Twins season.
Game #10, MIN 5, KC 0: "Hernandez improves to 3-0" His stay atop the World didn’t last.
Game #20, MIN 5, OAK 4: "Monroe's mastery helps Twins topple A's" It’s why he was signed but he didn’t do it enough.
Game #32, MIN 13, CWS 1: "Twins' Gomez goes for cycle against White Sox” Thumpings of the Sox never get old
Game #34: "Lamb Singles in a win as Neshek could be gone for year." Neshek wasn’t healthy to start the year and when he eventually fell the bullpen never had an answer.
Game #64, CWS 7, MIN 5: "Twins limp out of Chicago after four games of futility" Games #61-64 gave me little hope for a win in the coin flip game.
Game #73, MIN 9, WSH 3: "Twins rip last-place Nationals for sweep" Twins reached .500 with this win and would never dip below all square again.
Game #112, SEA 11, MIN 6: "Wretched 7th Inning: Pitchers Implode" Twins blow huge lead against bad team, Raul Ibanez crowned Twin Killer of the Decade
Game #125, MIN 9, LAAofA 0: "Span plays out Hunter's lessons" They reached +20, their highwater mark for the year, and teased us that they could maybe win on the road.
Game #140, TOR 9, MIN 0: "Road Trip finishes in a dead end" Reality set in that the Twins would not compete enough away from the Dome to win the Central.
Game #151, CLE 11, MIN 8: "No! Yes! No! Twins fall" They were down big, rallied, had a chance to win, but didn’t, could’ve been a season defining game.
Game #161, KC 4, MIN 2: "Royals topple Twins--again" A chance to lock up the Central Division title slips away after many missed opportunities.
