I think what he meant to say is that Brainerd played the Alex Cardinals not the puketown Cards (grow up ohfor32 seriously were not in 1st grade) and that brainerds defensemen ran the offense cause the offense couldnt.

Any idea about the "shot-gun offense" or the ex-cadet and his bonet?

Sabreman, Tech returns their leading scorer in Sam Buttweiler. They have no varsity experience returning in the goaltending spot which is a first for Tech in a long time.

They lost 6-3 to Benilde on Tuesday night, but I am not sure that is any foresight for what might happen between Alex and Tech. Tech has excellent coaching in Chad Hommerding, which is their biggest asset.

I bet you that Alex will hang around and keep it close, but they won't be able to pull it off. I say 5-3 for Tech.

Alex vs Tech

Post by hockeyplaya » Thu Dec 01, 2005 3:00 pm

No way Tech takes this one from Alex in Alex. It's a good rivalry so it should be a good game. Ohfor whats your reasoning for calling Alex puketown? You say anybody associated with alex hockey should know what you mean? Well humor me with your 2nd grade level education and inform me why it's a puketown. If your only reasoning for calling it "Puketown" is because of hockey, then you can suck on my $#%@*. Maybe you should tell us where your from so I cant call your town PLEASE BAN ME or something stupid like that. I mean seriously I could care less how much you hate Alex hockey, but show some more respect you worthless deusch.

section 4

Post by oldschool » Thu Dec 01, 2005 7:42 pm

OK, so for the last three posts you had to blast me about something so insignifigant it is almost unreal, but in one of them, you almost agree with what I was saying in that this section should not be looked down on.

that is the last I will argue about it, if you don't like hockey in this section............... good.

So, can anyone tell me if Sartell is up, or St. Cloud Cathedral is down, by the 3-1 score it could be either way.

How did the Brainerd Alex game look???? anyone actually watch it????????

oh yeah, another thing, 89er, Fergus tied Greenway last year, I don't really know if anyone else played a 7 team, my point is that section 4 really should hold their own against those teams, I don't care who you are, you are not going to give me a good favorite taking the top 4, (Virginia, Two Harbors, I Falls, Hibbing, ) of 7a against a top 4 of 4a,(Fergus Falls, Wadena, Little Falls, Alex or Willmar,) if you do, I have money in my pocket you set the stakes in a wager......................

Yeah, and one more tid bit, in case you didn't know, Alex, and Greenway, didn't "opt" down, they were placed there based on enrollment like everyone else............

Oldschool, I would have to say that they are both probably down from that score. Sartell graduated nine seniors including their goalie who had been getting varsity playing time since eighth grade. The fact that we lost by the same score that we lost to them in playoffs at the end of lost season would lead me to believe that the crusaders are also down, or at least having difficulty capitalizing.

I would have to agree sabreman, sartell lost most of thier talent and only have two seniors, one who didnt play much at all last year. Also cathedral lost all their talent in thier seniors too. Crandel is going to have to hold that team together, but i dont think that he can play D and score goals to. So someone else might have to pick it up and burry the puck if they wanna get some where.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... mnhock2 at: 12/1/05 9:16 pm

Alex vs. Tech

Post by Sabreman86 » Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:15 pm

Another not very bad loss for Alex. Tech is a pretty good team that would beat any team in this section. It sucks having Tech and Brainerd in the same week, though.

Does anyone think that they will have a chance at keeping it somewhat close against Moorhead on Saturday? What about some of the other games on Saturday?

Oldschool, I was actually at the game of SCC and Sartell...From the comments of the last two posters, I think they may be graduates from prior teams of these two clubs, so let me offer to you some unbiased information from what I saw. You raise a good question in is Sartell up or Cathedral down. Actually, it's a little of both. Both teams lost a fair number of seniors, but these two clubs certainly have not lost all of their talent. The teams appear to be more equal than many would have anticipated, at this juncture, but one reason is both teams are young....let me give you my thoughts on how the game went down in highlights:

1st period was offensively dominated by SCC. Sartell's netminder was busy facing quality shots by SCC and he did a real nice job in keeping his team in the game. With 1 minute left in the period, Crandall made a nice low shot on net and Murray was hanging near the net to pick up the rebound before a Sartell defenseman could reach it. End of period score was 1-0 in favor of SCC.

2nd period was dominated by SCC both offensively and defensively. Sartell's defense broke down allowing several odd man rushes, including two clear breakaways. SCC had good opportunity to run the score up this period, but Sartell held on. Offensively Sartell did get more shots on goal than they did the first period, but only a few of those shots were good scoring chances. 2nd period ended with the score being 3-0.

3rd period was the strongest period for Sartell offensively. They caught up on # of shots this period, and SCC's defense became somewhat scrambled and their lead man, Crandall, was rattled taking a penalty with an added game misconduct to it...unusual for him. SCC's netminder made some good saves from the peppering, but Sartell scored on a PP.... However, SCC couldn't score on a PP to save their soul this night. Game ends 3-1.

So.....who is up or who is down? It's just a combination of both. I think people who follow Cathedral were generally surprised/disappointed with their team this night. But I think SCC will get it together defensively and become a contender for the 2A title. I think people who follow Sartell were generally surprised/happy with their team this night. Sartell arguably has some of the best talent their club has seen in some of their athletes, but lack depth, for now.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... khead89 at: 12/1/05 11:34 pm

Hey I never said that Sartell does't have talent coming up. I used to play with some of these kids, and they definately can play. But any time a team graduates that many players (especially when your numbers a little low like Sartell) it will take some time for the players filling the spots to get used to it. Some players are ready to make an impact (Fred Bidinger, Dustin Parker, Zach Upgren, and a couple others) because of their experiance at the varsity level. Others aren't quite there yet. So if you think they look good now, wait until next year after only graduating two seniors.

I couldn't tell you who was in goal, I wasn't at the game.

I was actually asking about the Alex vs. Moorhead game, though. Btw, why do you think Hommerding is such a good coach? I don't know much about him, but I do know that he had a lot of talent come through that program a fews years ago and they didn't go anywhere.

Motivation....I think Hommerding is able to garner motivation from his athletes...not every coach is capable of that. His player pool may be down this year, no transfers, etc. but he will have his team polished by mid season because he always does....guess that's why I like him...he can bring out a better hockey player in each of his athletes.

Tech hasn't "gone anywhere", as well as no one else in this section, because of Moorhead's corner market.

Ok...comparing Tech and Moorhead coaches, maybe is overzealous....but the way Moorhead coaching handled the state championship game last year, you have to wonder if coaching staff isn't questionable.

Sabreman, sorry misunderstood which game you were eluding to...Alex v. Moorhead....hmmmm...I think Moorhead will pull off the win, similar to the Alex v. Tech game.
