It was predictable as the sun rising from the east. Two large associations with deep talent pool and from that a wider range of above average coaches to pick from. It looks as though NWC and Lakeville North have carved out there place this year as the 3rd and 4th best teams (we will know which order tomorrow afternoon) in the State while Roseau takes on Centennial for the Consolation side of the Tournament. My pick is Roseau sorry Cougs, have more admiration for the Northern teams.

NWC just didnt have the deep player group like EP has and the outcome was predictable as was Edina over Lakeville North (6-Rip) that one must have left a mark. Roseau looked to have a challenge in nets and Centennial learned that when you only put two pucks in the net in 2 games it is really hard to move forward on the big Hardware side of the bracket.

I just want to echo what I said last November, coaching will always be a factor on the road to the final game of the season. EP and Edina have proven that theory again, thank you coaches.

Good luck tomorrow and may the best coach direct his players to the podium!

It was a hard fought matchup that could have easily gone either way. EP won 3 to 2 in OT.

EP scored 30 seconds into the game.
Edina matched the score to tie it up a few minutes later and then scored a second goal in the second period.
EP re-tied the game at 2-2 with just over 3 minutes left in the 3rd.
In OT, EP scored the GWG a few minutes in.

Eden Prairie defeated Edina in overtime to win the U12A championship.

Anyone watching would agree the game could have gone either way. EP scored on a couple of fast breakaways that caught Edina flat footed. Edina's tough defence prevented EP from mounting any kind of attack during most the first two periods (other than the EP score in the first minute of the game). EP calmed down a bit and had most of the scoring possibilities in the third period.

Both teams are really good, but have room for improvement. EP's passing isn't great and they rely too much on great individual play. Edina makes too many long shots without someone near the net to screen or pick up rebounds. With two more years to work out these issues before they get into high school I think these teams are going to be scary good.

It was heart breaking and heart warming watching the EP goalie console the Edina goalie after the win. Those two will have to get used to the pressure of championship games. They'll see quite a few in the future.

The NWC River Hawks beat Lakville North for third place, 4-1. Got to give Lakeville some credit. Down three with only a few minutes to play and they were still giving it their all.
