Grand Rapids vs. Duluth East
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
Like everyone has said, its the administration. Hockey games arent fun for the kids to go to anymore. Not allowed to chant anything but "lets go east" and "ehs". Last year they threatened to not sell the kids State tickets. Ridiculous. Anyone close to East knows who is at fault too.mj79 wrote:Kinda sad... Go Hounds.
I'm not even 'close' to East and I've heard stuff.EHSHack wrote: Like everyone has said, its the administration. Hockey games arent fun for the kids to go to anymore. 1. GR will come out with a more balanced and cohesive team compared to the last meeting they had with EAST.karl(east) wrote: My questions:
The first time these two teams played, GR overloaded the top line. Since then, they've split that group up and gone for more balance. So, who will they put out there to try to keep East's top line in check?
For East, they may rely on the top line for a lot of scoring, but there are some pretty good players on the 2nd and 3rd lines, too...how do they match up against their counterparts?
Which version of the GR powerplay shows up; the one that shredded Cloquet on Saturday, or the one that spent half the 3rd period of the first GR-DE game one man up and couldn't score?
Will the pressure of the section final get to anyone?
Will East fans show up?
2. EAST has depth; more than GR. Depth is a strong deciding factor in the playoffs; however, EAST needs to produce goals as well. If they don't have troubles with their offense, they should be fine.
3. EAST's PK is a lot better than CEC's PK so I don't see GR's PP being the deciding factor; however, you never know... I will say EAST has a better chance of shutting down GR's PP though.
4. Of course section finals will get to the players; however, after the first few shifts they should be fine.
5. Yes, the EAST fans will be there. Just not cheering that much...
There you go, Karl.

I assume you meant Amsoil Arena and not DECC. Regardless, where were the bands and cheer leaders (besides those from Rapids)?? Canned music is fine because, as you stated, the atmosphere was dead. But this is section semifinal hockey and no bands or cheer leaders. Major disappointment with those issues and the lack of East fans and especially lack of East students.DHMN wrote:Definitely wish the DECC had at least played canned music during warmups.. really hard to get into a hockey game during warmups when it's dead silent in the arena.. makes it sound like a practice

East was on break, so I'm guessing that's why no band was at Amsoil on Saturday. I'd expect more students and a band there from both schools on Thursday.mnmouth wrote:I assume you meant Amsoil Arena and not DECC. There probably won't be video, but there should be a radio feed. FAN 1490 had the semifinals available online, and MSBN may or may not send someone as well.formerplayer37 wrote:mj79 wrote:i no its on tvformerplayer37 wrote:is this game being streamed online anywhere so anyone that can't attend can watch?

I said DECC because it's still DECC employees that run that stuff when it's not a UMD hockey gamemnmouth wrote:I assume you meant Amsoil Arena and not DECC. East band never shows up when their school is on break.. at least not under the current AD
My 9 is for people with charter cable. I don't know where you are but wdio/wirt ( local channel 10 in Duluth ) always shows it. My 9 is also a NBC channel and they have nothing to do with section finalsformerplayer37 wrote:mj79 wrote:i no its on tvformerplayer37 wrote:is this game being streamed online anywhere so anyone that can't attend can watch?
