Most uncontroversial Mr. Hockey decision in a while. Congrats Kyle, you are very deserving. Anyone have the voting numbers? Do they get published?
EP two out of three.

Rau will make another soft Goopher. He got his butt handed to him by a sophomore all during the CG and of course got the cherry pick goal at the end.

Not impressed. Why do we insist on doing this embarrassing "Mr Hockey" thing?

How can you call a kid "soft" when he kept skating as hard as ever even if it meant getting hit hard over and over again? :?:

Somebody who is "soft" would get hit hard and then shy away from contact. That was hardly Rau.

There also should have been two penalties called for interference on the two pylons.

Not real good when high school pylons can lay big hits on you. I guess they don't hit in the WCHA?

He won't draw the attention of all five skaters when he's on the ice for the Gophers. It's a little tough to keep an eye open when a whole team's focus is on you. He will do fine.

Granted he won't draw the attention, but at that level teams won't have to. Do you think he will have more of an impact than Bjugstad or score as many goals? Like Ness was, he is being touted as a player who is going to have a major impact on the program, not sure if that will happen?

Totally agree with you. It is ridiculous how you can call a kid soft that took at least three hits that could have knocked someone out of a game and yet he gets back up, doesn't miss a shift, and ends up scoring the OT game winner in the state championship.

Well I do think he will have a bigger impact than Bjugstad in his first year. Bjugstad did not have a very good year. Maybe that was because he should have been a senior in HS this year.

Like all hockey players Klye Rau has both strengths and weaknesses, I've had the pleasure of watching him for the better part of 10 years and one thing he is not is SOFT. I don't think I've ever seen a tougher player pound for pound.

Both Bjugstad and Ness started school late. Age wise they were the same as the other freshman.

Well then compare the stats the two had as juniors.
