It is. The Odessa Jackalopes is a new team next year, actually moving from Owatonna. I believe two NAHL teams are relocating next year and they're adding two new ones.

This draft has a definite different look than the USHL one. Some players that also were drafted in the USHL draft a few weeks ago but mostly different names. The Minnesota boys appear to be mostly graduating players potentially without other offers or options. Correct? Whatcha ya'll think?

Troy Hesketh was a 3rd round draft pick by Edmonton Oilers. He played in the USHL last year. Rumor was that he was de-committed from Wisconsin. Regardless, I would doubt he would play in the NA. Why would a team waste a pick like that?

Matt Kaiser played for the development program and ended up playing at St. Thomas.

Travis Erstad was a 4th round pick of the St. Louis Blues and ended up playing at UW-Stevens Point.

Was is a waste of a pick or was it the steal of the draft? Time will tell.

Not saying he cannot or will not make it. You are right, time will tell.

Just surprised that an NAHL team would draft him since he was a USHL player last year.

Breakout. Any good NAHL organization should be calling every USHL team and get a report on the 91 birthdates that each organization has. For next year each USHL team can only carry four 91 birth year players. If those players are bubble kids on the USHL team, it is certainly worth the risk for a NAHL team to draft them. Most NAHL teams are not built through the draft but rather by the tender process the league uses. Fairbanks for instance has used the drafting of USHL players very well and it has paid off for them as they are usually one of the the consistently good teams in the NA. Apparently Austin has taken notice as they drafted several USHL players. Sometimes these picks work out and sometimes they don't
