Fifteen games to watch this season

Post by east hockey » Sun Nov 20, 2011 12:27 pm

12/8: Bemidji at Moorhead

Could very well determine the top seed in 8AA. Repeat on 2/11 in Bemidji.

12/8: Maple Grove at Blaine

An early season matchup between 5AA's top two teams. The rematch happens on 1/26 in Maple Grove.

12/26: Hill-Murray vs. Minnetonka

This Schwann's Cup game pits the Pioneers against one of 6AA's best.

1/7: Lakeville North vs. Lakeville South

North blew up South's state tournament aspirations the past two seasons. Justin Kloos and South will be favored here...again. Rematch on 2/9, and very possibly in the 1AA finals.

1/12: Benilde-St. Margaret's at Minnetonka

Two 6AA heavyweights slug it out, both teams considered among the five best AA teams in the state this season.

1/12: Duluth East at Grand Rapids

Revenge motive runs strong in Grand Rapids; this game will likely determine the top seed in 7AA.

1/12: Roseau vs. Warroad

No seeding implications here; they're in different classes. But this is still the best rivalry in the state and not to be missed. Round Two happens on 1/31.

1/14: Duluth East at Eden Prairie

A rematch of last season's Class AA state championship game.

1/21: St. Thomas Academy at Breck

A preview of the Class A state championship game? Could well be.

1/31: Eagan at Hill-Murray

Seeding implications at the state tournament here, assuming both teams get to the state tournament. Both teams should.

2/17: Hibbing at Hermantown

A final Friday battle between two Class A teams considered by many the best in northern Minnesota.

Some of the best teams in the state squaring off head to head always produce many great games, also many section implications and possible section final games there too, cant wait for the season to start!

11/29: Hibbing at Duluth Marshall

1/17: Duluth Denfeld at Hibbing

Any one of these teams could win 7A

regardless of how good either teams will be this year. Edina vs Holy Angels has been consistently a great game for the last couple year especially the last three. I would expect the same this year.
The best, period

Glad you added the preface because neither will be real good this year. Edina, maybe top 10. Holy Angels, maybe top 20.

holy angels is not the team they used to be so edina vs aha won't be that great especially with edina in rebuilding phase this year
