Hibbing
Marshall
Denfeld

There is no way denfeld can match up to Hibbing. They play a game vs Duluth East right beforr sections and that wont do any good to their morale.. (can you say blowout?) That game will be an ugly one. Even uglier than last years. Marshall could take down Hibbing in the finals. The one question is the experience on that team.

Hibbing didn't look like all they were cracked up to be in the irc jamboree. Falls outplayed them pretty bad. Also virginia didn't look too bad against rapids. I wouldnt count out the falls and Virginia until a few games are played.

Hibbing
Marshall
Denfeld
(The rest)

Hibbing: seems to be the clear favorite with, what seems to be, the best player in the section. Goaltending will be the question mark.

Marshall: will be young.

Denfeld: will be solid, with a few transfers coming in from the area.

Depth will be an issue for all these teams. Should be an exciting Final at Amsoil.

I just don't see any possible way that you can put Marshall over Hibbing. Denfeld had 2 nice transfers that came in and Marshall is tying a Two Harbors Agate team who won 5 games last season. Everyone, figure it out.

Hearing of two nice transfers to Denfeld has me putting them ahead of Marshall now. I still think it is Hibbing's section to lose, but I think this does close the gap a bit.

Marshall- if their young guys can step up and significantly help Peterson and Bushey, that's about their only shot.

Denfeld- has excellent goaltending and improved defense, but who will score consistently other than Talarico?

Hibbing- will be very strong offensively (2nd line will score more this season) and defensively, but goaltending is a HUGE question.

Denfeld has two new transfers from the duluth east area, so they probably came to denfeld to play for a mediocre team. And a scrimmage is no way to measure a team.

Did you see this game? Was it back and forth? Did one team dominate? This was a 15 minute, preseason 1 period scrimmage, so you cant take look too much into this. Regardless, Marshall shouldn't be tying a team of that caliber in any situation.

The two transfers are actually both very solid players.

And no, get your facts straight, one transfer was not from the duluth east area. Figure it out.

Bill Grillo from Hermantown, Nick Forbort from Duluth East, so you are correct.

Nevertheless, Denfeld has no chance to win against hibbing/marshall. Not enough offense.

Too bad they aren't in 7A, eh? They'd be a semifinal (or quarterfinal) casualty.
