Hibbing (1-1) @ Duluth Marshall (1-1) 11-29-11 7:30pm

Post by HShockeywatcher » Sun Nov 27, 2011 7:23 pm

Both teams are coming off close losses on Saturday, the only difference being Marshall's was to a top team in the state and Hibbing's was to Mound-Westonka, who was on no one's radar. This should be a great game between two section rivals looking to start the season with a leg up for section seeding. The match up in Hibbing ended in a tie last year.

I think Marshall may be better than I expected. It appears a couple of new young players will give them a boost. I hope the Hibbing team that beat Little Falls shows up and not the team that lost to Mound.

Anyone from Hibbing know if Sage Hopke is on the team this year? I saw his name on preseason rosters but when I went to the game Saturday he wasn't on the ice and his name wasn't on the rosters handed out at the door. As he was the 10th forward as a frosh last year, I thought he would be a contributor this season.

Hibbing didn't look very good on Saturday against a mediocre team. Once again, I think hibbing's lack of size and physical play is going to create some inconsistency again this season. I am gonna have to go with Marshall in this contest.

Agreed on Marshall...was very impressed with some of the younger players this weekend at the Hilltopper Thanksgiving Classic. Looks like Flaherty has a good young crop of players and Judd Peterson looks bigger and better than ever.

If Adam Johnson gets going, look out. It will probably be a Johnson Peterson shootout. I predict double hattrick.

Okay so wins it? Team Peterson or Team Johnson? Don't be surprised if they both have hat tricks.

I'm pretty sure he is still on the team. I gotta go with my bluejackets on this one. They win by a goal.

Anybody know if any Duluth radio station is broadcasting this game? If so, do they stream it online?

He's playing, just needs to get eligible academically.

Michael Damberg makes it a 2-1 game. Didn't catch the assists.

This game can be watched with full video and audio at www.ifan.tv. The quality is pretty good and the MY9 announcer is doing a solid job. Go Jackets!

Marshall wins 5-2. Took them 1/2 of the 1st period to get going.
Peterson nets 2 goals. 8 goals in 3 games.
Would of had a hat trick, but the puck was touched by
Another player as in was trickling in.
Marshall is going to surprise some people.

After watching last nights game I think the people of Hibbing are starting to realize what an incredible team they had last year under the leadership of DeCenzo, Doherty and Tromp. They will truly be missed. I don't know if anyone else caught this, but could someone tell me why Hibbing made their goalie stand outside the locker room last night between periods? He did not look comfortable or confident doing this.

Agreed. Although Hibbing did dominate the first ten minutes of the game, thus they have it in them to be a much better team. They need to find some consistency, especially in the nets. Hopefully these teams will meet again come section time.
