ER/ANDOVER

Post by ERdynasty » Thu Dec 15, 2005 9:28 am

The Elk River Elks and the Andover Huskies play tonight in what should be an exciting game, as long as your an Elks fan. The Huskies will not be able to compete with the elite team of the NWSC. Kellogg will not be able to stand the pressure while being thoroughly man-handled by the Elks, as well as their crowd. The crowd is intense and have yet to see a goalie they cannot break. Siebert will further improve his GAA in what should be a landslide victory for the Elks, the future 2006 NWSC Champs.

_MW_

I've heard through the grape vine that Dustin Skinner isn't playing tonight. Looks like Andover is in for a long night.

Did they ever go to Andover? If they didn't open enroll, Andover would be the school that they would go to.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

What did you say on that last one kranky? Speak english next time. I think you were saying something about the Elks not being able to beat Duluth and i couldn't catch the other teams. ER can compete with any team they want. Lets see how it plays out.

A good source told me that Kellogg will not be playing against ER, as he has a groin injury. Could be a long night for the huskies.

elks centennial

Post by Grinder075 » Thu Dec 15, 2005 11:35 pm

I went to both games of anoka and elk river, and anoka vs centennial. Tonight centennial totally dominated anoka from the first minute of play. The return of Bergren tonight for Centennial really got there offense going. anoka isn't a total push over team this year, and they won 7-1 easily outshooting them 40 or so to around 10! The elks better be ready to play against centennial or else its gonna be running time GUARANTEED!!!!!!

Do you know how to read and analyze? I SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED how the return or Bergren who has had two very good seasons the past two years with 30 some points as a soph.. and 50 some last year.... He boosted this offense in which they didn't have him agaisnt BLAINE.. and Blaine is a way better team than Elk River this year. Elk River is small and down this year.:

first of all, ER beat blaine, if you forgot, so i dont see how they are a better team, especially since it was the elks first game and their fourth, ER hadnt even developed team chemistry and still beat a team that was four deep in the season. the centennial game should go down to the wire.

hey cheer nice try on the team chemistry there bt the only reason that the elks won was because of some home town calls by the refs elk river isnt very good anoka played with tehm bt was tooo young still to beat them and cenntennial will put this in running time siebert will not be able to keep the puck outta the net

ER looked past Andover

Post by mnhockey39 » Fri Dec 16, 2005 1:17 pm

I watched this game last night and thought that ER looked past Andover. Shots on goal were 27-12 in favor of the Elks.

Scoring Shots on Goal
Elk River 2 2 2 X = 6 11 8 8 X = 27
Andover 1 1 0 X = 2 5 2 5 X = 12

1st Period
Andover came out fast, hit hard, and scored first on its second shot on net via a rebound. Andover was called for 3 penalties in a row and got 2 PP goals as a result. The outcome was 2-1 score in favor of ER.

2nd Period
Skinner of Andover scored quickly to tie it at 2 a piece, however while Skinners goal was being announced the Elks scored to regain the lead 3-2. Sarsland must have lit a fire under ER players and they responded. As you can see via SOG, ER dominated play in the 2nd period. The result was a 4-2 game favoring ER.

3rd Period
Game went back and forth, however in favor of ER again. Game got chippy as ERs Peterson (an Andover boy that transferred) was on the receiving end of a Haskins crosscheck under the helmet into the month. Peterson was cut and did not play the balance of the game. Outcome a 6-2 win for the Elks.

ER has a tough schedule over the next 2 weeks and they better play much better than they did versus Andover. If Kellogg was in net it may have been a different outcome, as I feel that goaltending was the weak link in Andover’s defensive game plan against the Elks.

Regards,
mnhockey39

Hey Grinder, analyze this! Stop making excuses for Centennials loss to Blaine. Bergren and Voightlander both played in the Blaine game. Bergren was shut down but managed to spend time in the penalty box. Voightlander scored an assist in the game. The Cougars lost because they gave up three shorthanded goals. They were down 7-3 but scored a few goals to make for an interesting finish. If the Cougars remember to play defense(especially on the power play) they will beat Elk River. Neither team has looked particularly impressive yet, certainly not worthy of top ten rankings.
