Wes Iverson Breck

Fresh = 17; soph = 41; jr = 51 sr = 48

157 total and counting.

Tyson Fulton from Breck is probably over 100 as well.

BSM guys who passed 100 pts this year:

Christian Horn
Dan Labosky
Jake Horton
T.J. Moore
Grant Besse

In addition, here are the top ten all time coming into this year. I assume there are some other players between 100 and 116.

1 Troy Riddle 1997-1999 87 80 167
2 Christian Horn 2008-Present 54 82 136
3 Pat Steinhauser 2008-2011 60 75 135
4 Ian Schaser 1998-2003 52 78 130
5 John Kuzara 1977-1980 80 47 127
Joe Schuman 1997-2000 50 77 127
7 Isak Tranvik 2001-2005 40 81 121
8 Tom Peller 1978-1981 66 51 117
Stephen Carew 2004-2007 58 59 117
10 Pat Kocourek 1982-1985 63 53 116
Chris Warren 1983-1986 64 52 116
Steve Zierke 2005-2008 41 75 116

Recent Edina players with 100+ career points

Post by Rich Clarke » Mon Feb 13, 2012 9:52 am

Edina has had the following players beginning with those graduating in 1982:

Dan Carlson (1997) 196
Marshall Everson (2009) 186
Tom Nevers (1989) 139
Anders Lee (2009) 138
Jeff Yurecko (1999) 135
Conner Gaarder (2009) 122
Ben Stafford (1997) 118
Matt Reber (2007) 118
Zach Budish (2009*) 110
Beau Kretzman (2001) 101

Anders Lee's stats are just for his two years at Edina. I see his total history is already listed. Budish missed his senior year with injury. If one were to speculate that he would have scored as much as Lee and Everson his senior year, he would have ended up at 194 (Lee led the team with 84 points), still short of Dan Carlson's amazing total.

The stats begin in the early 80s but the only player to reach 100 career points until 1997 was Tom Nevers, even though Edina played in several state tournaments and won three. I think the reason is that the two Edina schools reunited and depth kept some sophomores and freshmen on the JV. Those that did make it early played on the third or fourth lines. Future NHL player Paul Ranheim played just two seasons and had just 61 career points. Dave Maley, another NHL player, did play his sophomore and junior years at Edina West, but had just 95 career points.

Further, the list does not include anyone graduating in 1981 or earlier, so players like Nyrop etc. are only absent for that reason. I do know, however, that Edina reports Dan Carlson as Edina's all-time leading scorer, so I don't believe any Edina player has scored 200+ points (in an Edina uniform)

Great post. Dan Carlson was an awesome HS hockey player and was Start Tribune metro player of the year in 97 as well. Jeff Yurecko was a big, nasty, physical player who played with a chip on his shoulder and was a good leader for the Hornets too. I don't think he ever realized his potential in college though. As he played for a stint with both North Dakota and Wisconsin.

Govie Goals

Post by 84Govie » Thu Feb 23, 2012 12:34 am

Dewey Wahlin had 92 points his senior year at St. Paul Johnson in '83-'84. He played 4 years of varsity hockey including his freshman year at St. Bernard's. So he might have cracked 200.

Jim Hau may have also had 100.

In the '60's the Peltiers certainly did some damage but I'll leave it to that generation to provide details.

More recently, Pogreba and Lyons may be on the list and Dickman has to be close this year. I just don't have the stats. Anybody?

I believe Zach Hnath from Rogers hit the century mark last night against SCC. Congrats to him if the stats are correct first player in the short history of Rogers. Jensen and Provo were the clsest before that with 92. Jensen left after his junior year, but did play his freshman year. =D>

Sorry I do not have any definate numbers to support this. I believe that Brooklyn Center High School (prior to all of the "mergings") had a couple guys who scored 70-80+ points in the 1987-88 season. It was pretty normal for kids from BC to play as freshman. I would like to know if anyone has any information on this time frame?

Now that the season is over, I'm still updating the lists...keep 'em coming!

I'll have an updated list coming out as soon as I process all of this year's stats.

Justin Kloos- (45+90+103) 238pts

Alex Harvey- (48+70+79) 197pts

Both shattering the 100 pt mark, amazing careers against tough competition. Best of luck to both!
