im sorry...but moorhead is not a northern team. they are a city team.
Check out this map of Minnesota and look at where Moorhead is (if you're smarter than a 5th grader and can find it). Some people are just geographically challenged I guess.

Not bad Black Sheep.
Next you'll get them to show a map of the US arguing that Minnesota is in the North :D :D :D
I'm waiting for him to say the sun doesn't rise in the East. I got a map for that too!

"Technically", Moorhead is in the WEST.
Duluth is in the north since some of it is 'north' of Lake Superior.
Cloquet is in the EAST.
Brainerd is CENTRAL
and St Cloud is SOUTH.
Everything south of St Cloud is in IOWA.

What about Duluth East?

If you're speaking "technically" (that's what they do at St Cloud Tech), Moorhead IS in the west. However, if you check the GPS coordinates, it is also farther north than Duluth.

Cloquet IS in the east, but is a northern suburb of Scanlon.

The other 3 you got right. But be careful, that's only 60 % - you might hafta take Geography class over again !

just check the people around the rink it will tell you...

high % of - jogging pants & sneakers - south
- slacks and loafers - south
- executive hair - south

any combination or flannel, wool, jeans, winter hats & boots - north

As you can clearly see Moorhead is in the south.

Its a culture thing not a geography lesson

It IS geographical as opposed to cultural - otherwise, according to your logic: North America, which has more jogging pants and sneakers, has to be south of Antarctica, which has more winter hats & boots.

Doesn't matter - Duluth is still south of Moorhead !

Moorhead 46.8738889
Duluth 46.786671
or so...

Moorhead is north but still WEST.

Okay, not exact, but pretty close...

Walker and north is NORTH
St Francis and south is SOUTH

south of Walker north of St Francis is Central....

Moorhead and Dultuh are central, but Moorhead is still WEST...

Splittin' it in half..
just north and south,
then Fergus Falls and north is NORTH...
Brainerd is NORTH and Little Falls is SOUTH...

thus Moorhead and Duluth are both NORTH, but, of course,
Moorhead is still WEST.

In that case, Duluth is EAST - That's why they call the Hounds "Duluth East" (not because they're in the East end). So where does all this leave the Lumberjacks ? They don't know 'cause they're stuck in the middle ! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Think I'm gettin' a headache.

Any word on possible replacements? Morinville's body of work was pretty darn good in my opinion...

Somethings to consider:

Moorhead's activities director is retiring this summer and his replacement is the Breckenridge AD. Not sure if his background (Breckenridge does not have a hockey program) will help or hinder in the replacement of Morinville. There are several former Spud alums like Josh Arnold, Greg Savevold, Pete Cullen, Joe Emmerich and Michael Weiss that are assistant coaches for Moorhead and I assume are interested in the job. The real question is will a school district that is cutting its budget yearly be able to bring in outside head coaching experience, or will they choose from the staff already in place.

On another issue Morinville has been talking retirement for a few years and has stated he is looking forward to working with the youth program.

Tony and Nick Uglem have stated they are going to concentrate on Hockey and forgo their seinor season of football. Both were starters (saw playing time on both sides of the ball) as juniors for Moorhead football section champion 8 5A.
Thats Mr. Potatohead to you!

Why would the budget have anything to do with bringing in outside coaching experience?

Per Ryan Clark at the Fargo Forum, Pete Cullen will be named interim coach for the 2012-2013 season. Position will be re-opened after next season, but retiring AD says Cullen will be given every opportunity to succeed.

Pete was one of the Cullens on the mid-90s teams that made a bunch of state finals, right?

There was a heap of Cullens on those teams, and I don't exactly remember how they were all related...

Pete Cullen attended Moorhead High School and graduated in 1995. He's a former Spud Hockey player and played in the Minnesota State Hockey Tournament in 1994 & 1995, both times finishing in second place. After high school Cullen played juniors for two years at the North Iowa Huskies and then continued his hockey career at UW-River Falls. In addition to serving as an assistant coach for the Moorhead Varsity team last season, he has been coaching for 7 years in the Moorhead Youth Hockey Program.

I belive Pete is Tim Cullen's son. Tim used to coach at Alexandria.

Tim Cullen is also Fergus Fall's winningest coach. Good blood line anyway.

I believe Pete Cullen played his youth and JV hockey in Alexandria, MN.
