6AA vs. 7AA

Post by hshockeyfan8 » Mon Oct 08, 2012 9:55 pm

Could this be the first year in a while that 6AA isn't the deepest section in the state?
6AA: Eden Prairie, BSM, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Holy Family
7AA: Duluth East, Andover, Grand Rapids, Cloquet, Elk River

Which section has the more talented teams?

Thats a tough question, I wonder how many games will be played between those teams, it would be fun to track them.

If they ever were to have a head-to-head playoff between the two, I would put my money on 6AA, no question.

7AA would be lucky to get one victory!

There are a lot of cross section games in the regular season. For example EP plays all of the teams listed above in the except Holy Family. It will be interesting to see what the records are between the sections at the end of the year.

6AA would win in head to head just because they have 3 of the top 5 in the state in benilde ep and Tonka. But 7AA is deeper because all 5 teams would beat wayzata and destroy holy family who is severely overated because they don't play anyone

Looks like Holy Family has a much tougher schedule than last year - This season they play Edina (1st game in the Thanksgiving tourney) - Maple Grove and a few others are in that tourney.

Regular season/non conference games inculde: STA, BSM, Tonka, Elk River, Holy Angels, Totino, Eastridge, Wayzata and Breck.

Will they get pounded..? Maybe/Maybe not - Atleast they upgraded to AA and are willing to get in the mix and take some lumps.

Team to beat in both sections? My pick is EP or Andover

Depends on where they play. Wayzata is pretty tough at home on that big sheet of ice.

For whatever it is worth...
unofficial count 6AA went 6 wins, 10 losses and 1 tie against 7AA last year.

7 of the 10 losses belonged to the Robbinsale teams...

7AA will only get more competitive as the SMA kids get into highschool. 6AA will always be great, but I see 7AA only getting better with time.

Pauly's long reaching claws will grab the good SMA Kids so don't count on it. :(

You never know. HM might get one or two..... They have reached out to Edina, Cambridge, and WI for talent in the past.
