Congrats to the Hunters..big win for them...and I still think Hermantown should play tougher schedules at all levels!
Below is Hermantowns's Bantam AA schedule thus far this year.
Does not look like a cupcake schedule to me.
Also, do you realize that the vast majority of quality teams at all levels are 120 plus miles away??
These teams can't travel every weekend and the do need to play the most of the locals.
Get a grip bmused and be happy that the team that obviously beat your team many times got beat last night...

Don't know what you expect from their youth schedule but maybe you should do some research before you hit send. They have tournaments and cities swings where they play AA associations. They may not travel from The North as much as Duluth East, but they do have there share of good matchups
Ya they must have like 5 quality oppents this season - 2 more than last season so they are really trying to make that end of the year statement for best team in Minnesota when they go 23-2 and take consolation at state
You mean like scheduling cupcake programs like Eden Prairie in 2009-2011 having a last second OT loss @EP, then getting dropped off EPs scedule when EP wins their title and losses half the team that just slipped by a group of Jr's from a Class A school. No need to schedule a competitive A public school right?

Last I checked Hermantown is a Class A public school. They have 5-6 AA schools on the schedule and the rest of the cupcake scedule is filled with top 15 A programs. But keep up with the hatred and cluelessness.

Maybe spend your time convincing Mike Randolph and Duluth East to stick around home and stop wasting money travelling to the cities to play "cupcake"" bottom tier AA teams that aren't in their Section. (We've known since about 1998 that's not going to happen)

The goaltending is weak at Hermantown and you see the result of that with this game. Put the puck on the net. This is a problem that this group (current Soph- Senior) of kids has had since they were coming up through Peewees and Bantams. Hermantown has a solid first line and 1 set of D, after that they are average. Then comes weak goaltending. It going to be a difficult 2-3 more years for them.

Hawks #57 overall = cupcake. There seem to be other teams above them willing to travel for better competition. Play a tougher reg. schedule & maybe get that state title these last couple years

How far do you think their goalie can carry them? If they were able to score 5 goals, they can clearly score; if they have scoring as well as a top tier goalie, do you think that'll be enough to help them for a section title?
Marshall will be the toughest competition...

While I can't dispute the numbers, you're really using their first 5 games to say their schedule isn't tough?

They are 18th in Class A right now; expect that to be at least 10 higher 15-20 games from now. Also, if you were to look at just the Class A teams on their schedule, they probably have the best SOS in the state year in and year out.

You can replace the word "Hawks #57" with "Greyhounds #56"... you'll sound so much smarter!

LOL... I had to chuckle when I saw D.East with the cupcake at 56 so far...love those computer ratings. Even more reason they shouldn't waste gas travelling to the cities all the time. DMarshall is just a mile up the hill also...

HSHockeywatcher...

I've only managed to make one game... 2nd game of the yr vs. Orono. A game full of penalties. Hermantown doesn't seem to have a "#1 go-to fwd" like years past. Hermantown's strength really never has been in goaltending. Sure, they've had some that could keep them in games but they were never looked at as the one to carry a team. I see two above avg. fwd lines with experience and then lines that need to get experience at the varsity level. Their D are all over 6-0 except for Pionk, but need to secure the puck better. They have D that can create offense once again.

I split time between FSN and the Herm/Denf. game on tv Thurs... I saw Hermantown's D play uncharacteristicly poor. Still no excuse. We'll see what this squad has in the next 2-3 weeks. I wanted to get to the Rogers game tonight...just too much holiday stuff to make it.

D. Marshall is not in Hermantown's section... just conference with Cloquet & Denfeld...unless somethings changed, SCC, Rogers, Denfeld? Princeton?

Next week, vs. Anoka, maybe Eagan, SStPaul? @ SStPaul tourn.

I'd expect that SOS number to rise as well before mid Jan.

Someone please show me the schools that frequently (more then 6 trips season) travel more then 60 miles for away games that are in the top 10 (either class). Curious, I know someone has it in them.

Hermantown up 4-0 over Rogers after 1... SOG 24-6
