cdh-sta

Post by cdhockeyfan » Sat Dec 31, 2005 8:53 am

hey dangles, let it go. Cretin beat STA yet sta is the better team?

Last year when CDH and STA played at STA cretin outplayed the hell out of them but hit more pipes than ever and sta's goalie played well. Since CDH outplayed them and looked better than them yet lost does that mean CDH was the better team last year? No, probably not. So instead of whining about outplaying someone and losing why don't you just give them credit.

4 unanswered goals??? Jeez, I mean, if sta so outplayed CDH how did that happen?

And I don't know when a 5-4-1 team is ever better than a 10-1 team.

I'm not a CDH fan but I agree with the last post. Dangles needs to get a grip and STOP THE WHINING. STA is a good team but not as good as CDH. I know both teams and STA has some very good players and has good depth but is not the caliber team as CDH.

Dangles - If i go by your thinking, then Totino is a better team than STA?

last year?

Were you even at that game? The last two years STA dominated CDH. They didn't have a chance. I don't know what you're talking about. The games were a joke.

cdh sta

Mathrunner, last year cdh lost to sta 5-6 with hitting more posts than ever...i dont know if i would call that dominating. St Thomas was a better team last year. Cretin Derham Hall is a better team this year. their records say it themselves (CDH 10-1 STA 5-4-1)...CDH handled Breck 5-2, STA lost to Breck...It shouldnt be that difficult to see who's the better team here.

So yeah, don't know where you're gettin' your stuff. Two years ago they played at Cretin, STA won 6-3, and last year at STA, STA won 4-2. There's no 5 in either of those scores, they had 5 combined, maybe that's what you're thinking of. And yes, STA dominated both games. Not sure about 2 years ago, but last year CDH was never winning. Yes, the young goalie made a few mistakes this year, he was playing at the X. Not to make excuses for the loss. Breck was STA's first big opponent EVER basically, aside from state last year, and HM who's in their conference, they lost to HM, who CDH will too, and one fluke loss to each team. Seems pretty even to me. But nice try.

To get back to the post about my thinking....I believe that Totino was a better team than Cretin. The cadets struggled much more against Totino but came out with the win compared to outplaying Cretin but coming out with the loss...

I would like to agree with you, but it's hard. Their record is basically the same as STA's with a win against Roseau under their belt. But they have losses against Benilde and Mahtomedi, which Cretin wouldn't/doesn't have. Just goes to show that anything can happen and that the games aren't played on paper.

you are right about the score of last years cdh sta game, it was 4-2. ill add one of sta's goals was an empty netter. the bottom line though is sta won the game and did have a better team than cdh. but lets just put all the scores, records, outplaying, home, away, fluke goals, fluke games, xcel energy center, and anything else mentioned besides the outcome of the actual game and realize, this year, head to head, CDH beat STA...theres nothing more to it. make all the excuses you want dangles...it wont change the fact the cadets lost and the raiders won.

last year

Post by cdhockeyfan » Sat Dec 31, 2005 8:39 pm

yes, I was at the game last year. it was 3-2 the whole third period and CDH played "better" than STA in the third period and ended up hitting like 5 posts in the third period alone. STA scored an empty net goal with little time remaining to make it 4-2, so i wouldnt throw out that score and say that STA dominated cdh. They were a better team than cdh last year, when they won the game. CDH is a better team this year, when they won the game.

Hitting the pipes is like hitting the rim in basketball...just not quite there. And gets you no points. For you to say that Cretin was dominate on the ice at all that game would mean you'd have to be on the team, there's no way, they were never winning, and they were getting physically dominated too.

ok

Post by cdhockeyfan » Sat Dec 31, 2005 9:37 pm

i was not on the team, i was at the game. you saw what you wanted to see, and i saw what i saw. its not worth arguing with someone who thinks sta is gods gift to hockey. get over the loss of your beloved cadets, ive gotten over the loss last year.

and i do think there is a difference between hitting the pipe in hockey and hitting the rim in basketball, but whatever

STA had their chance to play conservative and hold their 3 goal lead, but they choked. Bottom line, STA had the Raiders by the nuts, but they couldn't get the job done. Cretin obviously wanted it more and I am glad they didn't give up. STA cannot blame anyone but themselves. PERIOD.

my beloved loss...i guess

Post by mathrunner » Sat Dec 31, 2005 10:12 pm

Not trying to make excuses for the loss, I'm actually the one who's pointed that out. No excuses. They lost. But last year it wasn't even close. We'll see what happens later this year.

mathrunner-

I wasn't accusing you of making excuses for the loss. I was merely giving my two cents about the topic. But it is good to know.

Anyone know how Cretin is so good this year? Last year they were just like any other team, probably better than 4/5 in state, but not everyone but HM and AHA, what happened since last year?
