Blur & Rhett & Jerome & Cooper and whoever

Post by Renegade Ram » Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:40 pm

Was talking with my dad after the Roseau - LOW game the other day told me his brother Jim was at the game and had never been as disgusted with Roseau reffing and those guys are Roseau guys through and through. Said there were 26 penalties in the third period alone in that game. Said that after Roseau got a cheap goal early in the third the stuff seemed to hit the fan. Couldn't fart without winding up sitting for two. Said Blur couldn't seem to keep his arm down said it was embarrassing to watch. Talked with another guy from Roseau about the Totino game early this season where Blur had worked it and the penalties were 10 to 0 against the city boys said that the Totino coach after the game went up to Blur and told him that was the best job of homering he'd ever seen; Blur supposedly told the guy he'd have to write him up to the HS league for the comment. I've already had my tirade on the other jokers Jerome and Cooper over there in the Lumberjack thread. Used to be quality officials worked out of there but now..I'm looking for Green and White to come out and call it "sour grapes" more like harsh reality. I wonder if Ollie's got enough brass to put the orange bands on Blur & Jerome and give the lines to Rhett for the Roseau v Warroad match-up now that it's a non-section game but remember it's a Mariucci game though. That'd be like putting Ronny & Bobby out for a Warroad - I Falls match-up, in the mid-80's there were death threats after those..

What happened to Smedsmoe and Anderson? Have they hung up the skates? Correct me if i'm wrong, but weren't they pretty fair and honest most the time?

I remember watching that totino game and asking myself WHAT quit often after the calls that were made. It wasn't only penalties, but missed offsides also. There is no better word than homering from that game. I am happy to say I am no longer within the Roseau officiating system.
Moorhead sets a new state tournament record!

Whoever was working it, it was an embarassment according to the old guys that still watch. Said Blur and Rhett were on the ice for sure couldn't remember who the other zebra was. In watching Rhett in action in the past it is possible he may have been the one with his arm up. But I see you didn't disagree with the embarassing assessment so it must have been bad.

From watching the game, the calls did get a bit out of hand late in the third period. This had no impact on the game as both LOW and Roseau had calls against them.

LOW seems to get chippy when they get down.....thus the reason for some of the calls IMO.

Homer reffing? Reffing really had no impact on the outcome of this game! Totino game? Sometimes teams come in and play a more "cheap" style of a game.........not always due to "homer" reffing as you say Mr. Renegade!

Smedsmo and Anderson haven't reffed in years.......if anything, they were "anti-homer".......so I can see why you'd assume they were "fair" Warrior

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Nice first post remember birdmister that posted before is a former Ram that has officiated in Roseau and he was even asking WHAT in the Totino game. LOW probably did get chippy as they usually do after they get behind always have always will. Don't kid yourself both the Rams and the Youth teams get their share of good 'ol home cookin'. Just as every other town does. 10 - 0 in penalties I have reffed and you can't tell me the way interference is being called today the Rams didn't commit one infraction of ANY type get real. That was a jobbing just like the coach said.

didn't say there werent' some questionable calls, but can't agree that most of them weren't obvious penalties on Totino! From my standpoint, they were lazy penalties that any ref would have called regardless of the hometown.

Fair enough. Care to wager on the next Roseau v Warroad coming up next week. You get the G & W, I'll take the B & G and you give me 2 goals after all it is at the Memorial for a toddy after at the legion.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming game! Kind of surprising

Post by Renegade Ram » Wed Jan 04, 2006 3:03 pm

I doubt it is going to be a blowout probably have to favor Roseau as the are ranked anywhere from about 25 places above Warroad and would be a 1.4 goal favorite according to both the logarithms. I believe these teams may kind of mirror each other. Good older players, some youth movement, solid goalies. It will be a who comes ready to play type game in what may be a very hostile environment; especially being the first game after the women's game. Who comes out of the chute...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... m>Renegade Ram at: 1/4/06 3:08 pm

My guess is the Warriors will spend many minutes in the sin bin "Two Minutes for Holding"

The only thing for sure is Team USA won't be called for too many men on the ice or man in the crease!
