Totino Grace!

Post by icehock19 » Fri Jan 06, 2006 11:34 am

Can someone please explain to me why totino grace is ranked 8th in the state for single A yet they are strugling with thier own North Suburban conference? sitting in the 6th place spot BEHIND tri-city? this doesnt make any sense to me and i was wondering how everyone else feels

Conference standings will even themselves out once teams play more conference games against eachother.

Moorhead sets a new state tournament record!

Yeah, those are conference rankings, just based on your record, not who you play or anything. Dumb question.

They are good

Totino outshot Denfeld 36-6 over two periods in whitewashing them 8-0 in the Schwan and lost in OT to a very good St. Thomas Academy team. Denfeld until yesterday was the only team to beat Hermantown who was ranked what #2 or #3 for Class A in the state.

Totino only lost 3-2 EACH to BSM and St. Louis Park on the road. They play them at HOME the second time in mid-February at Columbia. They along with Park, Breck, and Blake will all be battling like usual come section time.

They are a very good club.

Totino Grace

Totino Grace fans simply need to be patient. They have had a meteoric rise in the power rankings over the past couple of weeks and the Minnhock polls seem to lag. I have had the good fortune to watch TG play SLP, and they gave SLP all they could handle in a very close loss (2-1).

What I find amazing is that Hermantown and Duluth Marshall are ranked so far above all the other top single-A teams. Anyone have any insight into that?

They are both almost undefeated and are playing all the other A teams and doing well, as well as some good AA teams. Much better teams.

im not here to bash anyone i just feel that we are far enough into the season to see who will be the top contenders this year and so far they have yet to prove they are no more than a sub par team. they had a great year last year but this is a totally different team and i think there are plenty of teams who should be ranked if not ranked higher than this team until they prove somthing this year not based on last year, thats just my opinon

You didn't offend me. Just don't like it when a bunch of kids come on hear and just rip on people for stating their opinions. Especially if they don't know what they are talking about. Just on hear trying to talk up their teams. And most of them don't even have a clue about hockey at all. Just know someone on the hockey team or on the hockey teams themselves and come on here to talk themselves up. If they can't prove themselves by their play on the ice, then get off the ice...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... liveau4 at: 1/6/06 2:32 pm

TG vs

Post by One Smooth Operator » Fri Jan 06, 2006 4:56 pm

Here are their scores against their competition and their rankings on the USHSHO. TG is ranked 25 there right now.

Lost TRG ranked 36th 6-2
Lost BSM ranked 23rd 3-2
Beat Roseau ranked 16th 4-1
Lost Mahtomedi ranked 59th 5-2
Beat Providence Academy ranked 112 4-2
Beat Irondale ranked 107 5-1
Lost to SLP ranked 10th 2-1
Beat Denfield ranked 54 8-0
Lost to STA ranked 19 2-1
Beat Mahtomedi ranked 59 6-0
Beat Tri City ranked 132 8-2

They've played a pretty weak schedule and beat only one team in the top 20. I'd say the jury is still out on this team given that three of their wins have come against teams ranked over 100 (165 teams ranked in MN). Two other wins are against teams ranked in the 50s.

TG

Totino is not the same team as last year but still a very good team. They are really missing Schack from last year and a couple of other defensemen who were good with the puck and strong in the offensive zone. They have controlled play in most of their losses but have failed to put the puck in the net. One goal losses to BSM and SLP were for the most part controlled by TG, I saw the SLP games and Swarthout stood on his head in that one. Sura and McDonald (been injured?)are off to a slow start, they are skating with some unknown left wing. Once those two get it going they will make another strong run.

If they want to prove anything to anybody, they need to get out of the North Suburban Conference. They have always been competitive, but these days you have to play the best to be concidered the best.
I know most of you know I am a Centennial fan, but take this seriously before bashing me. Who gave Centennial a second glance before they left the North Suburban? They were a great hockey club back then, but nobody noticed.
The North Suburban always has been and always will be a second rate conference. And I competed in it, so I know what I am talking about.

SPUD

Good point, i agree but it is not easy. they would love to get out. i know the football program feels the same way. Getting Benilde and SLP in the conference this year helped but overall the conference is pretty weak. finding a new conference and getting a new conference to let you in is a nightmare.

But they have wasted the competition as far back as I can remember. Other than Centennial in hockey as well as Centennial and Spring Lake Park in Football (back in the day), who could compete with them on a yearly basis?
I truly think they stay to gather all those conference titles. Looks good on the gym wall.
In regards to finding another conference, I agree. But they should have started looking back in 1994.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... SPUDfan at: 1/6/06 5:33 pm

North Suburban Hockey Schedule

Post by Froomcat » Sat Jan 07, 2006 12:04 am

FYI,

Its divided into Section 1 and Section 2.

You play everyone in your section twice and one game vs. other section meaning BSM, Totino, St. Louis Park have 4 very good opponents in Conference but other 9 not so strong. Its a big drop for St. Louis Park especially, having played 60 years in the Lake Conference. Its good for Cooper from the Lake though. Youth Numbers between St. Louis Park, Tri City (3 Headed Monster) Spring Lake, Irondale, Chisago, Cooper, St. Francis are very similar though.

1
BSM
St. Louis Park
Totino
Irondale
Spring Lake Park
2
Cooper
Chisago
St. Francis
Three-Headed-Monster (Tri-City)
Twisted Sister
